Dental Examination

Fillings
Resin Composite
These new substances have a white hue and can be made from several different origins such as composite resin, glass ionomer cement (GIC), and porcelain ceramics. Just like metal fillings, these can be set and cured within one visit to the dentist, although they may take a little bit longer.

A dental bridge is a device used to replace missing teeth. It attaches artificial teeth to adjacent natural teeth, called abutment teeth. Root Canal Treatment
Root canal treatment (also called a root canal) is done when decay will likely damage or has already killed a tooth. Deep Cleaning
If the periodontal disease progresses, it can destroy supporting structures, including the tooth root, soft tissues, and jawbone. In some patients with advanced gum disease, a procedure called scaling and root planing may also be necessary. Commonly referred to as a deep teeth cleaning, scaling and root planning allows Dr. Likakis to remove the damaging bacterial deposits, and leave a clean tooth and root surface. After a deep cleaning, patients can often maintain gum health through diligent brushing and flossing.

Dentures
When the decision has been made that the remaining teeth are non-salvageable and indicated for extraction in preparation for the transition to a full denture, there are two basic alternatives. The first one would be to extract the remaining teeth, and wait several weeks or months for the areas to heal before making the denture. Most people usually don’t choose this option because it means that they will have to function without any teeth during this time. As you would expect, most patients would find this objectionable, and therefore in most cases, this is not the chosen alternative. The other alternative, which is the far more popular choice is that of an immediate denture.
