- General Info:
- Anthony's Car Wash and Detail Centers is a family run business with brothers, sisters, children, nieces and nephews running the business. Anthony's is the only Full Service Car Wash in the Southern part of Birmingham, Alabama that is locally owned and operated. Our Car Wash facilities are state of the art and feature soft cloth and high pressure water cleaning equipment. All the chemicals used in the Car Wash and Detail Centers are manufactured by Anthony's Automotive Detail Supply. We supply chemicals to a lot of Detail Shops in the Birmingham area. Anthony's was opened in 1969 by Anthony Serio when he was only 19 years old and full of ambition. Anthony took on his brother, Lawrence Serio, as a partner in the business in 1970. This partnership would prove to be a successful combination. In January of 1979 the business was incorporated and the name was changed to Anthony's Car Clean Up Incorporated. In the beginning years, Anthony's focused on hand car washes and specialty automotive detailing. In 1983 Anthony's opened their first Body Shop and the business was continuing to grow. In 1989 Anthony's built their first state of the art Car Wash, Detail, Oil Lube and Automotive Service Center in Vestavia, Alabama. This location would be the one that laid the path for all the locations to follow. The Vestavia location is just as successful today as the day it opened. In 1994 Anthony's opened another full service state of the art Car Wash, Detail and Oil Lube Center in Hoover, Alabama. This location is the largest of all the locations and has become the Anthony's flagship store. The facility was designed to handle the largest amount of vehicles possible and offers a lot of extra amenities like the Shoe Shine Station in the customer waiting area and A Cut Above Salon in the upstairs area. In 1999 Anthony's opened yet another Car Wash, Detail and Oil Lube Center in Pelham, Alabama. This facility is the smallest of all the locations, but it is well equipped to handle a large volume of vehicles. We plan to continue to grow and we hope that with all the locations in the Birmingham area, we will be able to serve as many loyal customers as possible. Thank you for visiting our Web Site and we look forward to seeing you at one of our Birmingham area locations!

I have worked there before and things get sucked up or fall out of cars. John (the owner) does it put up with a thief and he will look at his camera to make sure. Cars go through 4 stages th first two take a good bit especially when people bring cars in that are nasty. If you are in a hurry and you are rushing people it's going to be a bad job. Now Hannah (the manager) has to deal with rude and unhappy customers and I personally would not be as nice as she is. If you want to call and scream and cuss like a baby go ahead but make sure you would be okay with someone doing it back. Hannah is patient and tries to help people but we washed cars we don't create miracles.
On a hot and sunny Thursday in summer I go to get my car washed and the kid tells me it's going to be a 30-45 min wait before they can get to my car. There are only two other cars being cleaned at this time and no one else waiting. I asked him if he was serious and he said 'yeah, there's only four of us here.' That is ridiculous and horrible customer service- how so you expect anyone to pay you to do your job when you won't even do it? I used to get my car washed here pretty regularly but they will never get my business again.
Do not take your vehicle here! They blatantly lied about throwing away personal items in my vehicle and when I asked for a refund (just a refund, not even full reimbursement for the items missing) they basically called me a liar and said that it was at the customer's risk to have any personal possessions in the vehicle at the time of it being washed/vacuumed. Do not take the risk. I'm just glad that I did not have anything more valuable in sight...
While the quality of the work was fine, I spent quite a bit of time waiting for my car to be called. I waited patiently, and waited and waited. They claim they did call my car's make/model. They were not busy, so I heard all the other cars but not mine? If you work there and see a person sitting there for over half an hour, maybe stop and ask, "what car are you waiting for?" Just seems like that would take little effort. Or maybe they don't like some people and don't want my money.... In this economy all businesses should do all they can to keep their customers.
