I went into Lids located in the Pearland Town Center to shop for a hat and the customer service experience was horrible. The manager was assisting a customer when a friend and I walked in, so we browsed around at hats. I found a hat I liked and removed it from the shelf. While waiting patiently for the manager to finish assisting the customer, another customer walks in and she immediately acknowledges her and offers to assist in a few minutes. At no time while my friend and I was inside the store did she acknowledge us. My friend recommended that we leave, so I politely returned the hat to the shelf and we left the store. The manager acted as if we were not there and didn't care about us leaving. I hate to think of this experience being about race but we were the only African Americans in the store. I was completely and utterly disappointed and embarrassed. So much so, that I will never spend any of my hard earned money with any of the Lids or Hat World Inc franchises.
