This place does NOT only cater to Hmong people...it may appear that way because of the large Hmong population in the Twin Cities. But, how often are you correct about a stranger's ethnicity? Truth of the matter is, this store carry an expansive inventory of products from all over the world, mainly Asia. Everyone goes there...I mean EVERYONE from all walks of life. And as for the smell? Well, I suppose it's difficult to suppress the many different mingled smells of the world. Maybe they should carry cheese to complete the collection of "distgusting" smells. ;)
I love love LOVE Gopher Grocery. I have no idea what I did before. I just order online and then get the groceries delivered the next day. It's nice to have the option to stay in and get things done around the house while someone else does the shopping for me. You'd think the prices would be high, but they are just as affordable as shopping at regular grocery stores. Plus, there's only a $2 delivery fee. All of my experiences with Gopher Grocery have been fantastic.
IT HAS NOT CLOSED. What a mean thing to post. The ladies running this place over the years do not have "the internet." I guess this is what happens when you do not participate online. We are a fans. Where else downtown can you get a roast beef, turkey, or any of the half dozen sandwiches they have on their menu for only $3.50. Add delicious homemade soup for only a few extra dollars. We are now their new regulars!
