The Medical Resort At Bay Area

My mom spent 4 weeks in Medical Resort. She had been in Paramount, Baywood Crossing and Bayshore Rehab. Medical Resort was by FAR the best of all. The staff was always in checking on her continuously during the day and from time to time at night, but who wants to be bothere while sleeping? Response time was very quick when she needed a nurse. Never ore than two minutes. The rooms were cleaned daily and did her laundry daily. Meals were some of the best. Was normally more than could eat. Family members are offered the opportunity to purchase meals from large menu. My mom gained approx 20 + pounds during her stay. The rehab department was excellent. The staff from the top down was excellent. We will be going back soon due to her just breaking her hip. If ever I had to be in a facility I would hope I could go there! Baths are huge, staff friendly and always willing to help. I see why it is called "RESORT"!

My father is a stroke victim with severe paralysis. I admitted him on a Tuesday and took him out of this place by Friday. They would not even take my father to the bathroom!!! He sat for three days with no bath or shower. He called me during the middle of the night crying and told me he was in hell. He was screaming for help because no one would help him and he was sick. A CNA yelled at him and threatened him that he had better shut up and be quiet. After a long meeting with their management and a promise to improve nothing changed. I gave them 24 hours notice. I sent another facility there to evaluate my father and the Director of Nursing gave them an interrogation. She refused to release him to them and I had to threaten police intervention!!! PLEASE DO NOT EVER SEND YOUR LOVED ONE TO THIS PLACE!!!

If I could make them a -1000 I would! This is the worse place in the world to take your love one! The staff is super lazy you have to tell them to do their job! They lie about everything, bp, meds, baths. My father was a stroke patient. My father had a GI tube put in his stomach they were not flushing it causing it to get infected. The "unknown" CNA dragged his foot on the shower floor and never made report of it my mom found scrapes and bruises on his foot and ankle when she went to change his socks!! Another CNA came in the room by herself and dropped my father on the floor trying to move him from his bed to his wheelchair when on the board it reads always have two ppl to move patient! Then she lied and said "he sat on the floor"!! Lies, lies, and more lies!!! These ppl are inhumaine and should NOT care for elderly ppl or injured ppl! No one takes any responsibility never once was their any apology or remorse for the behavior it was always finger pointing and blame, and more lies!

I am a lawyer who represents a daughter that placed her father at the Medical Resort. Her father died and they did not notify her claiming that they did not have accurate contact information. Then they could not tell her where the body had been sent. She had to search for her father's remains and found them at a local funeral home. For those of your who have had bad experiences with the management and staff at Medical Resort, I would like to compare notes with you. Not impressed at all, the employees act as if it is their personal social club. Constantly visiting with each other, talking loudly in the halls, playing on the internet. They are indifferent to the needs of the patients. With the amount of staff present, there should be regular checks on the rooms to insure that the needs and comfort of the patients are met. Call buttons were ignored. The food was inadequate. The personal needs of my relative were neglected. Her clothing was taken and never returned. The medications that we brought with her were taken and misplaced on a medicine cart for more than 2 weeks.

Beautiful, clean and modern facility, great folks in therapy but the nursing staff was uncaring and indifferent. Some of the aides complain a lot and are slow to respond but a few were really, really good. I WOULD NOT recommend the Medical Resort if you are really ill. This place appears to be better suited to someone not needing constant care and are fairly self sufficient. From my family's experience, patients are not a priority.

My family member was admitted to this place and no one new they where there. Finally we came across a Lady Jessica who welcomed Us with open arms. She is patient kind and caring. The managers seem to care but Jessica is the only one that respond to us in a timely manner. She make you feel loved when she is around. If it's not for her I will get my family out this damn place.

I am not sure where Harold C went, but it certainly was not the same Medical Resort my mom was at. The therapy is fantastic, Nursing great and the food just unbelievable. I will be for ever grateful that they are in Pasadena.

WORST place ever! Rehab people good but everything else is awful! Don't think they even read charts to see why you are there. Mom there with a major femor brake with bone grafts. She's not to put any weight or to bend it for at least 3 months and they tried to hook her up to an exercise machine used for knee replacement therapy. She's diabetic and they don't even check her blood sugar? They won't come when she calls for bathroom or pain meds. Head nurse seems to be incompetent. More problems beside these, they just go on & on. Facility will not return phone calls to address issues. Talked to them in person twice already about issues. We would not recommend taking anyone there. They might leave there worse than they arrived. Want to give 0 stars!

I am having surgery next week and it is comforting to know I have a wonderful place to go. I was very fortunate to stay here for 6 weeks this past summer. As a patient I felt that I was in really good hands. I enjoyed staying in a place that was nice and clean, the staff were smart and professional, kind, helpful and patient I was able to get back my strength by the daily rehab sessions. As a bonus the food was Good! I have compared this rehab to others and this is the place you want to be. Kim

My loved one has received great care here and I'm thankful for that. Visiting hours have been flexible, staff has been very helpful and the building is gorgeous. I'm glad this type of rehab is available.

Beautiful facility but lacking sufficient management and staffing. No one answers phones at nursing stations and communication with doctors is very poor. Medication was left on my family member's bed stand when she was not in any shape to take her own medicine. It was a dangerous situation. She also fell causing injury. Upon leaving the facility she was given absolutely no help from social worker or doctors for her transition to home.i would never take a loved one here! I would give no stars if possible.

Couldn't be worse care if you have any medical issues. The therapists are the best part of the "Medical"Resort and expressed concern for the lack of medical attention for my dad. His nurse, Brenda, a totally cold fish, did not enter his room once during the three shifts I was with my dad in spite of being told of serious concerns. Dr. Aquino saw my dad for 15 seconds and left although my dad tried to ask a question. My dad became critically hydrated and malnourished over the 11 days he was there. It was a horrible experience.He has had major setbacks from being there.

This business deserves zero stars, and any family wanting there family member to come here, should turn and run away fast as you can, don't let the new building fool you, trust me getting well could be a tragedy in that building.
