I lived just blocks away from this Popeye's Chicken several years ago, yet I didn't frequent it often. A recent visit made me remember why: this place takes the "fast" out of "fast food." Most of the time the food is good - mind you, not necessarily good for you, but who comes to a place like this for their health? At any rate, the problem I have is with the slowness of the service. On my last visit, I sat in the drive-through line for at least 15 minutes or more. There were just three cars ahead of me in line. I do appreciate getting fresh food, but the service seemed inordinately slow. Still, if you've got to get your Louisiana-styled fried chicken grub on, you can't go wrong with Popeye's - grab a two-piece leg and thigh spicy meal with a biscuit, rice and beans and you're good to go!

It can't get better than Fried Chicken and Waffles. The waffles are huge and fluffy. Definitely make sure you get extra syrup. Although they can be a bit heavy handed on the butter, you can just use what you need. I usually either get the #1 which is 1/4 Chix (Brest + Wing or Leg + Thigh) with 2 waffles or the #5 which is the Jeanne Jones Omlette (chicken, cheese, and egg + 1 waffle). I've seen others with French Fries which is cooked in the same oil as the chicken .... sooo good. Or you can get beans and rice which I'm not sure why you'd do that when you can have waffles. Definitely highly recommended. Avg $10 - $15 per person.
My kids are picky eaters. My husband suggested this place. There was a big line outside we almost went somewhere else. We're glad we stayed. It was worth the wait. I never thought that fried chicken tastes so much better with waffle especially with Roscoe's waffle. We've been back since then. I find the waffle a little bit pricey but I just have to order it. Going to Roscoe is not complete without having the chicken and waffle together.
