Parvo

I work for a local veterinarian. The Parvo virus is a highly contagious and sometimes fatal condition. It is spread when a dog comes in contact with the feces of an infected dog. The virus can remain infectious on contaminated ground for five months or more. As a result, you pet can contract parvo anywhere dogs come together, such as parks, kennels, shelters, and pet stores. So just because a pet is adopted from the humane society, it is a good idea to have them vet checked and vaccinated. Because of this, however unfortunate, a high number of pets from kennels can contract the parvovirus through no fault of the facility. Humane societies are trying to help, try not to be so accusatory. Thanks~
