The food was good but the service was substandard. The dinner menu bumped into my cocktail and it spilled over. I assumed the waitress (name of Fitz) would comp another. Instead she advised that I would need to purchase a replacement. Considering the $100 plus per person tab, I do not think this is appropriate for a high end restaurant. As for the service Fitz sometimes was attentive, but many times we had to wait for periods of time to request something.
I ate dinner at your establishment on September 4th and had a really nice salad and a good entree featuring the three game meats. <br> <br>However, whomever was preparing desserts that night was not doing a fine job. The souffle was absolutely terrible. I've never seen such a poor attempt at a souffle before in all of my experiences at supposed high end dining. <br> <br>Secondly, your manager is incompetent. Your wait staff was blubbering and crying because either your chef or your manager was threatening your wait staff and that completely irritated me to the point of deciding never to return to your restaurant again. I don't care if you can prepare bison or elk. I can do that too on my grill and I don't need crushed cherries to make it taste great. I will let everyone know from Yelp to City Search that you are not good to your staff. And that is inexcusable. It's one thing to hired poorly trained staff, but belittling them in front of customers is low class. Your wait staff are amateurs, but there's no need to yell at them in front of customers. You should fire your chef and you should fire your manager and start rebuilding your menu for the 21st century to people that don't need to be jazzed by overcomplicated menus. You also took a perfectly good trout dish and pan fried it to the point of greasiness. I'm just so upset to see a potentially well branded restaurant so average in presentation and quality. Never again will I dine there. <br> <br>I'm sorry but you have a terrible problem in your restaurant and it shows.
Great location, good appetizers, love the live music
My wife and I dined at Riverhorse while staying at Deer Valley to celebrate our anniversary. \r <br>When we arrived, we were very impressed with the hostess as she took our coats, and we were made very comfortable despite feeling somewhat underdressed (a button-down shirt and trouser-jeans seemed a little sub-par upon surveying the room). Live music was playing, and was a beautiful touch.\r <br>We started with the Appetizer Tower, which included smoked salmon on a crispy potato pancake with dill cream and red onion; crispy goat cheese won tons with sweet plum sauce; and Chicken satay with cucumber salsa and peanut sauce. The dishes were simpler than they sound as far as flavor is concerned, and were very good (the smoked salmon was delicious, and the chicken satay was refreshing). This was served along-side a variety of breads and seasoned butter which were also very good.\r <br>We also ordered the Heirloom Tomato Bruschetta with fresh mozzarella cheese, basil pistou, baby greans, and aged balsamic. It was very good and refreshing as we waited for our salads.\r <br>I had the Riverhorse Salad (baby greens in a red wine vinaigrette, goat cheese, enoki mushrooms, toasted walnuts) which was good, but she had the Heirloom beets and arugula (humboldt fog cheese in a Meyer lemon vinaigrette) which was off-the-charts-delicious.\r <br>My wife ordered the Trio of Tenderloins, which turned out to be a surprising volume of food - the Kobe Beef, North American Buffalo, and Elk ternderloins were all cooked perfectly and were amazing (served with Oregon ""wild"" mushrooms and whipped potatoes, though the mushrooms didn't taste very wild). I was happy to help her finish the dish.\r <br>The filet I ordered was perfect, with maytag bleu, red wine demi, and buttermilk fried onions. Absolutely mouth-wateringly delicious. We were ridiculously full at this point, but still managed a few bites of Creme Brulee for dessert (nothing to write home about). We will definitely return (pricey, but well worth it).\r
Food is always great, live music is great, but you'll pay for it!
This is a great place to go on a corporate card for dinner. Or in the summer time sit outside on the deck and order one appetizer and order all the drinks you can. This place deserves all the stars it gets as the food is great, and the staff is wonderful. Definitely make reservations during the winter time as this place gets packed.
My husband and I received recommendations from both residents and visitors of Park City for Riverhorse. After going it on our own for place to eat for a few nights, we decided to give it try. The waiter greeted us with moderate enthusiasm and took drink orders. My husband ordered his usual vodka rocks that came out in a glass only slightly larger than a shot glass. Good thing it was only $6.50. Guess folks in these parts don't know how to pour a generous drink (we're from Texas and I guess we're used to a larger pour). I tried mine shaken and served up which came in a petite martini glass. After getting over the sticker shock of the menu, we chose to split a salad (caesar) which was decent. Entrees are priced higher than they really should be (a chicken breast for $33) for what you get. The halibut was pricey but you expect that and it was pretty good. The highlight of the meal was the dessert, a chocolate molten cake. Frankly we were disappointed after all the rave reviews we got and there are better places to go in our opinion. Would only go back for dessert.
To start, I am not a professional chef, but I am a lover of great food, and I know happiness when I taste it. I looked at several reviews of this restaurant (including the New York Times) which is why we chose here to begin with. To spend $50 on an entree doesn't bother me. What bothers me is to spend $50 on an entree that I could have easily made better at home. I had the salmon, both my fish and veggies were cold and tasteless. My husband had the filet mignon which was over cooked and smothered in some type of blue cheese sauce. In my opinion, a good cut of meat (such as the filet) doesn't need to be drenched in a sauce, however, maybe it was just to cover up the fact the chef over cooked it. To be fair - we went on a Sunday night, so it is possible that the EC was not working in the kitchen.\r <br>\r <br>On a positive note, the quail we had as an appetizer was enjoyable - so was our salad. We opted to pass on dessert since our entree's were less than appealing. I thought their wine list was over priced and the selection was not very good. A bottle of Coppola wine that you can purchase for $15 was priced around $50-60. We ordered the house selection for $36, only to have the waiter smirk, when we inquired if it was good - his response was, ""it's not great...you get what you get when you only pay $36 for a bottle of wine."" Being that we use to live in California and recently got back from Italy - I know you can get wonderful wine for that price. \r <br>\r <br>Perhaps my expectations were just too high, I was expecting something like the Snake River Grill in Jackson Hole. Or, maybe we just ordered the wrong thing, but regardless of what you order - one hopes that you could at least eat it. Although my husband managed to scrape off a lot of the sauce on his steak in order to eat it, I left about 90% of my entree on my plate.\r <br>\r <br>*Most positive reviews of this restaurant were made over a year ago - I should have paid attention to that.
I had the macadamia crusted halibut ($35), and my wife had the goat cheese stuffed chicken ($30). Both dishes were full of flavor and had nice presentation. The price is high, but not overpriced for the location. Service was prompt. We really enjoyed the live piano.
