I went to a Panama City new car dealer to have my malfuncting air conditioner checked. They said my problem was compressor failure and wanted about $1,850.00 for the repair. Charged me $95.00 for the check. I took it to Mad Hatter for a second opinion. In about an hour they called and said I had a bad relay. They located a new one and in about another hour and 1/2 they called again for me to pick up the completed repair. I saved $1700 and was very pleased with the service they provided.

I was told by another shop I needed $650 worth of work to stop an oil leak. They check my car and found no oil leak. They did recommend changing my timing belt, seals and water pump as part of preventative maintenance and then gave me a quote. The price was $200 less than the other shop that was trying to scare me into doing the work. They even walked me out to the shop and got under my car to show me there was no oil leak. Quick, professional and reasonable. The way it should be.
BTW, I asked about RyanBee's comments. He's a friend of an employee that was fired from a Mad Hatter across town that has nothing to do with them. Take his comments for what ever they're worth.

BUYER BEWARE. This company is currently PAYING CUSTOMERS WITH A FREE OIL CHANGE TO POST A 5 STAR REVIEW!
In brief, I was quoted several times that a job I had Mad Hatter on 23rd street perform would be $400. The bill was over $650, and the mechanics tried to take left over parts from me. They also didn't do the job right (left some nuts/bolts loose, and did not swap over a few sensors which they were PAID to do). Further, the owner Dave and sales clerk Josh REPEATEDLY called me harassing me over the phone about my negative review I posted. After informing them to NEVER contact me directly again, I was threatened with a lawsuit, followed by DAVE COMING BY MY FRIEND'S HOUSE TO FURTHER HARASS ME.
WATCH OUT, THESE GUYS ARE LOONIES AND CROOKS!

The family cruise broke down during Spring Break. We needed our car repaired fast. We are not from Panama City so we didn't no where to go. The desk clerk recommended we have it towed to Mad Hatter in town. We followed her recommendation and we were glad we did. Those guys were fast, friendl and professional. We had our car back that afternoon. They even came to the beach to pick us up. Great people. Highly recommended.
The GOOD, the BAD and the UGLY.
The 'BAD": I left Winn Dixie supermarket (Rt.77 Lynn Haven, Fl.) on 03/08/11.
I had just cashed my social security check and purchased $187.92 groceries. Put them in the trunk, drove over a speed bump and dislodged my muffler.
The "UGLY": The Panama City police pulled me over for a "loud exhaust". I explained to the extremely RUDE officer that I had damaged my exhaust, minutes prior to being pulled over and that I was going to the muffler shop for repair. He stated "do you know how many times I hear this excuse"? I told him to follow me if he did not believe me, which he did. He once again pulled me over at 23rd. St and Lisenby, stating that I had just passed numerous muffler shops. I told him I was going to Mad Hatter due to positive previous experience. I stated I would not take it anyplace else. He stated that a "muffler shop is a muffler shop" AND that "they were all just a bunch of simple minded grease monkeys, no matter where you go". He was going to write me a citation. I told him to follow me and see that I was indeed going there. He agreed.
The "GOOD": I pulled my car into the Mad Hatter shop on 23rd. st. I was immediately and professionally greeted and my car was placed on the rack within 3 minutes. The repair was completed to perfection with no "hassles" or "pressure" to have more work done. They were extremely efficient, friendly, informative, professional and inexpensive. I was delighted to be on my way home with the "perishables" which I had just purchased. "HAT'S OFF TO MADDHATTER"!!!!
I was on my way in less than 15 minutes!!!
Upon leaving the shop the SAME officer pulled me over again, He told me to "rev the engine". Which I did. He "smirked" and said "Well you do know that your passenger mirror has a crack in it". Upon inspection there was indeed a 1/2 inch crack in the mirror. He then warned me to get it fixed ASAP. I left the scene and got my groceries home in time to prevent spoilage. Thank you, to the crew at Mad Hatter on 23rd. St, Panama City, Florida! Thank you! Dr. Timothy C. PhD

Went to one shop that wanted to charge me $120 to take of my locking lug nuts (I lost the key) and replace them with regular lug nuts. Another shop didn't even bother talking to me. I went to Mad Hatter. They got me in fast, pulled out a tool and removed and replaced my lug nuts in about 10 minutes and only charged me $20. Next time, I'm going there first.
