I was a loyal customer of this neighborhood cleaners until recently. The wonderful family business with grandma, kids and all was sold. I was disappointed that the original owners did not say they were selling. I found out by asking where the regular staff was. I was told they were on vacation. This went on for weeks, until I asked the seamstress across the street if the business had been sold. She told me it had indeed been sold. I spoke to the new owner and said I was disappointed that they were deceiving the regular customers. I told her they should be up front and tell people the business is under new management. I explained that if they want to run a successful neighborhood business they should introduce themselves to their customers and get to know them. These people have no clue who I am. The other owners knew our names......our dogs.....and offered to pick up and deliver laundry when I was undergoing chemotherapy. You can't buy good will......a business has to earn it. Yesterday was my last pick up........folks, if you haven't noticed, the prices have gone up too. The person at the counter said she was new and didn't think they had......check your bills. There are many other dry cleaners within a few blocks. I just met the lady who owns Gate Cleaners on Hamilton and she was lovely. The prices are better and they have a system where you can drop off or pick up twenty-four hours a day. They're open until 5PM on Saturdays......not 2PM like Emerson.
