We took our 6 year old lab to ...

We took our 6 year old lab to Dr. Choi in August, 2011. A few days earlier, our lab suddenly seemed to be in a lot of pain. She yelped when she stood up and was unable to jump into the car. She had no visible injuries. We were scheduled to travel out fo the country with her in less than a week. A friend recommended Palmdale Veterinary.
I am a doctor, but I did not advertise this to Dr. Choi. Our dog is lean and extremely active. She has been eating human food (carefully selected and of good quality) as a treat everyday since she was a puppy. There has never been an issue. As sson as Dr. Choi heard this, he said it was probably pancreatitis from table scraps and recommended a $70 test. I knew that pancreatitis was associated with a fever, which my dog did not have. When I mentioned this to the vet, he blew me off and said this was probably the early stages. The test came back negative. Then, he recommended a set of xrays. I knew this was appropriate in case she had swallowed something that she wasn't supposed to. The xrays came back negative. The vet pointed out that her spleen was enlarged. He said it could be a tumor which could suddenly burst. He wanted to run blood tests, an ultrasound which would probably need to be followed by a biopsy. This is when I told him that I was a doctor and to stop being so vague. When asked how common it was for an enlarged spleen to a tumor, he admitted it was very rare. When asked what the most common and simplest diagnosis for my dog would be, he said it was probably a pulled muscle that required an anti-inflammatory injection followed by pills. I told Dr. Choi that I would go with that and would monitor my dog for the next few days. We left Palmdale Veterinary with a bill of around $500.
Our dog was fine from that evening onwards. She stayed on the medication for only a few days.
I am extremely DISGUSTED with the professional ethics of Palmdale Veterinary and Dr. Choi. To think of what they would have put my dog through if I let them. There has to be a more ethical and caring vet in this area.

This is to let those at Palmdale Veterinary Hospital that I (Blake) and our dog Tilleigh had a good experience today at your shot clinic. I being new to the area and now in charge of Tilleigh this was my first experience with PVH even though Tilleigh has been a regular.

When I first called "Dawn" she was excellent on the phone, very professional and down to earth, knew the answers to questions regarding shots and types, did not mind myself having such knowledge having educated myself over the years and worked with me to obtain the appropriate shot/s required and NOT NEEDED for our dog Tilleigh. Dawn also was equally awesome in person today when I came in.

The two girls, Tarryn and Erica were also very nice and accommodating allowing me to hold Tilleigh with them while giving shot as Tilleigh has a lower back issue at times and I wanted to add support. This "team work" between your workers and customers is how it should be in the real world but often is not. I'd give them all the praise on hand and a raise if I could!

Thank you so much and I will let folks in my circles know how great your office, office workers and prices are at the clinic.

Two paws up!

I had the unfortunate task of putting my dog down. That was successful however they lost his ashes somewhere in the mix and called to tell me they were so sorry but will refund the $135. That's the least they can do! So disappointed in the place after our loyalty thru all my pets lives!

My dog was spayed at this hospital and I couldn't be happier with the service we received. The staff was very friendly and caring. Everyone was very professional. If I ever need medical treatment for my dog, I will be going back to P.V.H.

Do not go here. The staff is very rude and oddly enough it's not very pet friendly considering it's a vet clinic. The office manager is really nasty, she snapped at me to get my dog off of the waiting room couch. My dog was just sitting there because she wanted to be near me and was not doing anything. I have been to other vet places that were alot more pet friendly. They were also very rough in handling my dog and pushy about trying to get me to do other things to my dog that I could not afford like a dental cleaning. Dr. Park is really pushy about forcing things on you that you don't need or that may not even benefit your pet. Dr. McEwan is really rude to you unless you have a bird. When I did bring my bird in they tried to stick her in some strange container to weigh her and it scared her, she ended up getting injured because of this. If you can go to another place, I highly suggest it. All Care Pet Clinic is much better, the staff is very friendly and take really good care of your pet. I will go there from now on.

Dr. McEwan is the absolute BEST. I am blessed to have found him and this wonderful hospital. The vet I was going to in Lancaster really blew it on my older cat. I came close to putting her to sleep two months ago. Dr. McEwan knew what to do and it was a simple adjustment to her thyroid meds. The vet in Lancaster didn't want to adjust the dosage. Dr. McEwan adjusted it and explained so much to us...things we were never told. She is eating, playing and feeling great now after just two weeks. We were not rushed like at my old Vet. THANK YOU Palmdael Vet Hospital!! OH...and the lazer treatment to her arthritis really works!! She is holding her tail high now.

Dr. McEwan is awsome!!! He is, by far, the best veterinarian I have ever been to. He knew just what to do for my older cat. And it was a simple adjustment to her thyroid meds. The veterinarian I was using in Lancaster really blew it and I came close to putting this cat to sleep. She is doing wonderfully now...happy, playing, eating. I thank my lucky stars that I found Dr. McEwan and the Palmdale Hospital. He took the time to explain everything to us and there was never a rush. We felt so at ease with this doctor and his staff. From now on, they will see all my pets. The neighborhood is not the best, but we were so impressed with the well equipped hospital, that it didn't matter. They even have the lazer for my cat's arthritis...she is holding her tail high now.

I just want to thank all of th...

I just want to thank all of the staff at Palmdale Veterinary Hospital for being such wonderful people and helping to take care of all of our animals so well. When we had to put our beloved Jasmine and Chloe to sleep, all of you were so caring, compassionate, respectful and very understanding, and that made all the difference in the world. I've never found a better vet clinic especially one where every single employee is absolutely amazing and who put their heart into what they do. You guys are so wonderful and I am so appreciative of how each one of you truly cares for all the animals that come in, Thank You for taking such good care of our animals while taking care of us as well. Your kindness will never be forgotten.

My new vet is AWESOME!!!!!!

I have a Lab/Pit mix that I took in to be seen for what everyone thought was mange and thankfully was not. The staff was simply wonderful, Dr Choi took his time, listened to what I had to say about the changes I had noticed, and even repeated a test when he was in doubt of the results, his staff got right down on the floor with Miss B giving her comfort as they held her for the doctor and they explained everything to me so I wasn't anxious either. The cost was comparable to our old vet's in Glendale and when I was concerned about cost I was honest with what my budget was and they worked with me on it. Amazingly Miss B, for the first night in weeks, slept comfortably all night long, no itching or chewing or shaking of her head!!!! YAAAYYYYYY!!!!

I will be taking all of my animals here (3 cats and 2 dogs) Dr Choi is a hero in this household and I will be requesting him for all my animals!!!!

I simply can't say enough good...

I simply can't say enough good things about this veterinary office. They take such good care of our old lady cats. Today I was very worried about one of our cats, though I wasn't sure which one was sick. They worked it out so we could bring both cats, after my husband got home. The staff is amazing.

Beyond their caring nature though, they are cheap as vets go. Every time I go to pay my bill, I cringe as I wait for my total. But every time it's half what we would have paid at our old vet's office. I'm not sure when the negative reviews were written, but what they were talking about simply does not fit with the office that I've been interacting with for the past year.

bad experience

I'm sure the Dr. didn't do anything wrong he was just doing his part, after all the dogs behind was operated on what do u expect when it needs to heal it probably takes awhile it isn't a very clean area as it is. think about it.......those r very complicated and messy surgeries!Plus hes been a veterinarian for many years and does an awesome job doing so for many other clients.

Awesome Veterinary Clinic

I have been bringing my animals here for over 20 years. Dr. McEwan has such a wealth of experience and training that there is no animal he can't diagnose. I started with my parrots when I kept them. He has treated my cat who was stupid enough to get into fights. I have a purebred dog who has numerous medical problems. The most difficult one being chronic dry eye which required a delicate surgery to move a saliva gland from her cheek into her eye. This type of surgery is usually only done by veterinary eye specialists. Dr McEwan sucessfully performed this operation on my dog. His schooling at UCDavis and military training has enabled him to treat any problem. If you are willing to listen, you will find no better advice on the health of your pets than here. I recommend them to every pet owner I know.

A Rave Review for Dr. Kirch

What a great experience I just had with Dr. Kirch at the Palmdale Veterinary Hospital. My cat had a small growth and I was concerned it may be cancer. She tested the growth on site for cancer and discovered it was not. What a relief, but perhaps, more importantly was her communication style. She treated this concern with seriousness and too appeared relived by the result. Her follow-up was commendable as well. Dr. Kirch personally made the phone call to deliver the blood results.

If you are looking for a new Veterinarian, Dr. Kirch is a great find.

Dr. Kirch, Chloe says thank you for the great care you provided.

Worst Experience!

My family has been going here for years and about 6 months ago I took my dog in there to get a tumor removed and I ended up with a horrible mess! They performed the surgery on my dogs behind and after he told us to put diapers on her because she's going to be on pain medication and sedatives so she won't have control of her bowels. Well we didn't think to question him so we did as he said. When she did go it went all over her wound because of the diaper and it got really infected. When we called him he seemed really frustrated at us! Told us to continue using them and that he knows what he's talking about. We took her back in and told him it looks worse and infected he said she was fine! It looked really bad we took her somewhere else when her stitches kept popping by themselves. She was heavily sedated and looked miserable. The new Vet we went to said he used the wrong suture material and that's why it kept tearing open and he totally mangled her girl parts in the process! This lady fixed everything up and put her on higher dosage of antibiotics which she should have been on from the beginning! My dog went through so much and if we never went there she would of been healed up in 4 days instead of 3 weeks! We called to talk to the owner and the receptionist lady was a nightmare! The owner was very nice and said sorry and he was going to talk to them both. It doesn't help any that we had to pay for a whole other surgery somewhere else. We ended up paying over $2000 and they never refunded our money! So now we go to Palm Plaza who are very friendly and actually care about animals.
