        The McCracken County Regional Jail has been operating since 1990. It houses more than 450 inmates. The jail charges fees from an inmate for room and board, administrative processing and medical expenses. It provides assistance with emergency treatment and assessment and in-house mental health services. The McCracken County Regional Jail features a range of drug and alcohol programs, as well as conducts blood pressure and insulin checking services. It operates the Department of Corrections, which classifies the working of inmates inside and outside the jail. In partnership with Swanson Services Corporation, the jail offers inmates with purchasing options of personal hygiene items, snacks and soft drinks. The McCracken County Regional Jail maintains a location in Paducah, Ky.

        The jail is run in fact by the...

        The jail is run in fact by the inmates as far as to keep it clean and sanitary. Numerous violations including over population and sleeping conditions haunt this jail. The upper staff seem to be all related and seem to overlook major health and federal mandates. The library is almost none existent with the Guards themselves being the only donors to it. The guards are fair and professional in general and are far overworked and under paid. As of this writing a major investigation into the facility has been launched by federal offices outside of the jails knowledge. Several deaths of suspicious origins have been linked to the jail, but are in no ways the normal operating procedure of the jail. The running of the kitchen and its budget reports will also be looked into. This is thee first time a in detailed accounting of Kentucky jails has ever truly been carried out and many people in the surround area are eager to learn of the over crowding issues and medical treatment of current inmates.
