This school is amazing!! The owner and the admistrative staff are so accessible and the teachers are the best! The friendly environment is icing on the cake to the wonderful education this school offers. My son came from another daycare and I immediately noticed a positive difference in my son when he started here! He is learning so much!!! And I love getting pictures of him throughout the day! Would definitely recommend this school!

This is a great school if you want to send your child to a daycare that is more than just a daycare. Not only do they have an amazing learning program, but the place is so clean and very secure. The staff is very warm and welcoming. The best part is my son barely wants to leave when it's time to go home. He's learning, but he is also having so much fun!

I was wary to bring my son here due to negative reviews, but I am SO glad I did. It seems that previous (terrible) reviews are due to the previous owner. The current owner had been there for about 2 weeks before I started my one year old, and it is obvious that he is very invested in the daycare and making it better. I have absolutely no complaints. Every day I get an email with what happened that day (and sometimes get updates during the day, (an option I like having). There are regular fun activities for the kids (water day, fitness days, etc) and lots of learning opportunities. I truly feel that this school is rapidly living up to the Goddard name.

As new parents, we were sad to leave our children with strangers and go to work. We selected what we thought was the best possible environment for them. As others have stated, the staff turnover is incredibly high - insider information says it's due to the owners. Either they are hard on the good teachers, who choose to leave after a short time, or they dismiss anybody they don't personally like, despite qualifications. They keep as little staff on hand as necessary, and so they juggle children around to manage ratios with as little cost to them as possible. There seems to be no regard for the children's need for consistency or security. As we left, there was an overall feeling of neglect to the building and a more depressing demeanor with the teachers. We did encounter some fantastic teachers (which was short-lived), but since leaving our children have thrived at the new place and are so very different that it makes me cry knowing we kept them from something so much better for too long. Someone once commented elsewhere that the owners here seem to be only focused on making profit and not on the true happiness and welfare of the children. I'd have to agree, sadly. You may have to venture a little further out or get creative for childcare, but do it, I wouldn't recommend this place at all.

The review by ds2011 posted four years ago holds very true today - so nothing has changed at this place. Please beware.

Disappointed

When you hear of the Goddard School, you really believe your child is getting a top notch education. However, this has not proven to be true at this location. They have technology that is supposed to wow the parents, but it is not used consistently. Although the director told me that I would be getting a daily snapshot of what my child was doing, the teacher missed a few days and the response was I have a lot of students, I can't do this everyday. I wouldn't have asked if this wasn't sold to me. Unlike other places my child has been, she does not come home talking about what she learned. You receive electronic daily reports of what your child has done in each of their 'domains' and I engage my child in conversations about them and she tells me they didn't do any of those things. She doesn't come home singing songs, she isn't coming home talking about the letter if the day, frankly it doesn't feel as though she's been at a high quality child care. I've observed her teacher several times, disappointedly, it seems that she gives her attention to certain students. I'm displeased and currently looking to move my child out. Last, aesthetically, things are falling off the wall and letters are not displayed in their entirety.

Very disappointed with Goddard

I was very impressed with the Goddard school when I toured it and was excited for my child to go there. But as time went by and his teachers kept changing it was hard to get any consistency. He's had 9 different teachers in the 18 months he was there. But overall 22 have left the center. They've had some amazing teachers but the lack of respect and organization causes them to leave. The kids are always moved from to room to room to manage ratios again making consistency difficult. We left last month and my son is thriving is his new center. I wish we had made the move earlier but Goddard is supposed to be the best. This one has a lot of improvements to make. Mainly, keeping their fantastic teachers.

We absolutely love The Goddard...

We absolutely love The Goddard School in Owings Mills. I toured several pre-schools for our son around the time he turned 3. Most centers were day cares that tried to do a good job teaching the kids but the "teachers" were not certified early learning and child development teachers. They are real teachers at The Goddard School and it shows. Our son started with them just after his 3rd birthday and we are sad that he will leave the school this Fall at 5 years old in order to move on to Kindergarten.

The programs offered are terrific. The teachers are wonderful and they really care about the children and their progress. We have been encouraged to participate as much as we can and the teachers are great working with us as parents to help our child reach learn and reach his milestones. The owners have our child's best interests at heart and, although they run a business that must make money to operate, they will not put the bottom line above the children and families that they serve.

We truly feel like we are a part of the Goddard Family. We are sad we will be leaving in the Fall but we will be back when our daughter is ready to start her pre-K time with them!

Nothing good about the Goodard School in Owings Mills

For any parent who is thinking about sending your child to The Goddard School in Owings Mills you may want to reconsider. The owners and their uneducated director are rude, do not follow state rules and have a teacher turn over rate like a train station. If you are looking for a place where your child will be respected by the owners and director this is NOT the place. You the parent will not be respected. So is this the type of place you would send your child. Ratios are never maintained and they move children from room to room so they can send their teachers home so they do not have to pay them their full check... Yes there are a FEW good teachers in this center but the good ones leave because the lack of respect they are given from the owners and their director. I thought this school was a top notch school, the best of the best but I was terribly wrong. I do not know how these people still have a buisness. It is sad to think they carry the Goddard name so poorly.

I have to say that this School...

I have to say that this School has totally impressed me. While touring the center I couldnt help but laugh when I saw what was happening in the infant classroom. One of the teachers was dancing on the carpet with the babies who could stand up and the other teacher was sitting and bouncing in the cozy corner with the babies who couldnt. The babies were having so much fun!! You could tell they loved being at The Goddard School!!! I had to enroll my grandson right away!!

The teachers impress me every day as I walk through the halls of the School I hear teachers accually TEACHING the children, CARING for the children, and having a great time with each other. The standards The Goddard School requires are high and the parents deserve that. I can only say that you have to come in and see how wonderful this school is to believe it!!

The office staff, esp the director is highly disrespectful. They should not be in the business of caring for children.
