Primary Care
You should direct any questions regarding your recovery from your medical miscarriage to the staff at the Women’s Clinic of Johnson County rather than your Primary Care Physician.
Emergency Care
To reach us outside of office hours, call 913-491-4020 to be connected to our answering service. We always have an on-call physician to take your urgent calls. If you feel you are having an emergency, please go to the nearest emergency department, do not wait for a return call from us.
Colonoscopy
During your initial appointment at WCJC, your provider will perform an exam to assess the severity of your prolapse, as well as any additional tests or examinations to determine the exact nature of your condition. This could include EMG, Manometry, Ultrasound, Proctography (defecography), colonoscopy, or even an MRI.
Electrocardiogram
Women’s Clinic of Johnson County has a variety of ways to diagnose gynecological, vaginal and pelvic issues. We can help you order blood tests, urinalysis, ultrasound imaging (done in office!) and even an EKG, CT or MRI Scan. If we find these diagnostic tests, do not give us the full story of your condition. We may recommend a Laparoscopy. Once you have determined that a Laparoscopy is the right path for your health, we will set up a day and time that works best for you to receive this surgery.
Immunizations
People can prevent sexually transmitted diseases through safe practices and education. Comprehensive sexuality education is a major factor in preventing STDs. This includes safer sex/risk-reduction counseling and promotion of condom use as well as STI prevention education and counseling tailored to adolescents. Hepatitis A, hepatitis B, and HPV can be prevented with a vaccination.

Located on the Olathe Medical Center campus, our OB/GYN clinic in Olathe serves hundreds of patients from all over the area each year. We offer a variety of services at this location, including obstetrics. Because of its convenient location, many of our Olathe patients find they can easily fit their OB/GYN clinic appointments into the rest of their busy schedule!
Endometriosis
A Vaginal Hysterectomy may be the best solution for a number of concerns, including the presence of benign tumors (which lead to persistent bleeding, anemia, pelvic pain, pain during intercourse, and/or bladder pressure); endometriosis; adenomyosis; gynecological cancers; uterine prolapse; abnormal uterine bleeding; and other issues causing chronic pain.

Whether your pregnancy was planned or unplanned, it is wise to familiarize yourself with your insurance carrier’s pregnancy plan in order to fully understand your coverage and what costs, fees, appointments, or tests you might be responsible for. All private and government health plans cover some portion of pregnancy and childbirth, even if your pregnancy begins before coverage takes effect.
Labor and Delivery
Bladder, urethral, or rectal prolapse typically happen over time and can be prompted by childbirth, a history of constipation, or nerve damage. This change can be so subtle that some may not even realize the signs of prolapse until it has progressed. Although symptoms can be temporarily addressed through the use of stool softeners, when prolapse occurs, surgery is likely necessary.

We typically perform a pap smear during an annual exam and can test for abnormal cells that may indicate signs of cervical cancer. If a pap smear returns back abnormal results, we will be sure to guide you toward the next steps to taking control of your health.

Ultrasound
A Hysteroscopy is a non-invasive method of investigation involving a small tube of light that we can insert through the vagina to get a better look at the cervix and uterus to effectively understand the cause of the bleeding. We may also look for any abnormalities via ultrasound.
MRI
Depending on the number and severity of your fibroids, this surgery can last anywhere from 1 to 2 hours. Before the procedure begins, your provider will conduct a comprehensive exam, including the use of ultrasound (and sometimes ordering a pelvic MRI), to identify the precise location of your fibroid(s). We will also provide you with post-operative instructions, listed below, to help you heal quickly and efficiently.

Please bring your photo ID and your insurance card to your first visit. We ask that if you were referred from another physician, or had any outside testing or imaging such as ultrasounds or CT scans, that you bring these records as well.

Cyst Removal
Hysterectomy
There are a variety of hysterectomies we can perform to help a patient address severe concerns regarding her uterus. For example, a hysterectomy is a solution for treating uterine fibroids, a common condition among women in their 30s and 40s. This is because a hysterectomy completely and permanently removes the uterus, or “womb.” Specifically for women who have larger uteruses, our doctors may recommend a specific type of hysterectomy called an abdominal hysterectomy.
Endometrial Ablation
Once we diagnose the issue, an operative Hysteroscopy may be needed to remove a fibroid (myomectomy) or polyp (polypectomy). For other patients, we may offer an Endometrial Ablation—which can remove the lining of the uterus known as the endometrium. This essentially puts an end to your period, though in some cases patients may still experience a light flow.
Laparoscopy
Laparoscopy is a surgery that uses a “laparoscopic” device to allow your doctor to perform minimally invasive procedures and diagnostic tests. Essentially, a laparoscope is a small surgical tube with a camera on the end. This tool has enabled the doctors at WCJC to provide thorough, yet minimally invasive, care to our patients experiencing a variety of concerns.

Skin Cancer
Direct causes of skin tags/skin lesions are still mostly unknown, though some research tells us that skin tags can be genetic or formed after a patient contracts HPV. Therefore, there is no definitive way to prevent skin tags from forming. Especially if skin conditions, skin lesions, or skin cancer run in your family, it’s wise to check your body on a monthly basis for any new moles, spots, patches, or skin tags.

Luckily, most skin lesions are benign and do not affect a patient’s health or sexual wellness in any way. That said, if a patient feels bothered by a skin lesion because of how it looks or feels, we can perform a safe and effective removal procedure of these tags with minimal to no scarring.
