My husband and I can never agree on chinese food restaurants, so we were going to try somewhere we'd never been. I am so glad I found this place. The service is great, and the food is better. It is an express place with a few dine-in tables. They actually have combo platters that come with rice (fried or steamed) and an appetizer (eggroll or crab rangoon). The combo platters are offered any time, not just during the week or only for lunch. They are very reasonably priced for everything on the menu. Since finding this place, we've been back like six times in the last two months. It is now our absolute favorite chinese food place in the Kansas City area.
I come from Shanghai,China, and I like going to small, family owned Chinese Restaurants. I found this restaurant and really enjoyed the food. My favorite dishes were "General Tso's Chicken" and "Beef Noodle Soup." The General Tao's Chicken was crispy on the outside and tender inside with heavy flavorful sauce. I could tell that the Beef Noodle Soup's noodle was hand made and tastes very fresh and smooth, as we made in China, it really worth a try! I have also enjoyed their "Triple Delight," "Kung Pao Chicken,'' and "Fried Dumpling Chives."
I went in a few days ago after being out of the city for a few months, and all I can say is that the food and service is still amazing. They have a large variety of food so even if you're someone who is picky about food, you'll most likely find something that you will enjoy. The service is friendly and the owner is also really nice. Finally I would like to say that being Chinese, I hold "Chinese" food to a high standard and Joy Wok has met and exceeded that standard, unlike some other non-"Chinese" food restaurants.
