Dr.Hawthorne replaced my knee and I just about walked out of hospital. Went through physical therapy with no pain at all!! Unbelievable knee replacement Dr.Hawthorne!!

I have been seeing Dr. Hawthorne for several years now and can attest that Dr. Hawthorne is not only an awesome doctor, he is also an incredible surgeon.

I have been receiving knee injections from Dr. Hawthorne in my attempt to postpone the inevitable – knee replacement surgery. More about that another time.

On Father’s Day weekend 2023, I felt a momentary sharp pain in my right shoulder. Having felt a similar pain in my past, I assumed what I had done. I put off seeing Dr. Hawthorne until July.

After the CT, the official diagnosis was, “retracted full-thickness, full width re-tear of the supraspinatus tendon and, retracted full-thickness near full-width tear of the infraspinatus tendon”. In laymen’s terms, I tore my rotator cuff – again.

The surgery (not arthroscopic) was addressed in mid-August. I started in-home PT 3-days after the surgery (arranged by Dr. Hawthorne’s office). In-home PT continued for 3-weeks. I am currently in outpatient PT doing the work to re-gain both my strength, and my range of motion (also arranged by Dr. Hawthorne’s office).

By the way, I have a tattoo on the shoulder where the surgery was done. Without exaggeration, you would not be able to tell that I had surgery if I did not tell you. The point of incision is barely visible.

Dr. Hawthorne is a man of few words. He’ll give you the facts to help you to decide the next steps, without the glitter. When you are ready, you can move forward with him and trust that he will do a great job. I trust him.

As soon as I have completed PT and have fully recovered from rotator cuff surgery, I will be scheduling with Dr. Hawthorne to get my knees done, one after the other.

I had a knee replacement and could not be happier with Dr. Hawthorne and his staff. I had very little pain and was up and around in no time. His office handled everything for me and the follow up was excellent. Would highly recommend to anyone.

I had knee surgery (by another doctor) and I was is so much pain and discomfort I can’t put it into words. I honestly couldn’t take two steps without wanting to cry because of the pain. As soon as that surgery was over I was told I needed a full knee replacement, not by the doctor that did the surgery mind you, but by his nurse. That doctor never came to see me again even for my follow ups. My questions regarding that surgery were irrelevant to them, all they wanted to know was when I was going to schedule my full knee replacement surgery.
(With them, when hell freezes over!)

The following week I made an appointment with Dr. Hawthorne. He did my knee replacement surgery and I was up and walking (pain free) as soon as I was out of recovery. Even my therapists couldn’t believe how well I was doing and how fast I had recovered. Two months after surgery I was hiking in Zion National Park in Utah.

Doctor Hawthorne also repaired my right rotator cuff.
Again, the doctor is unbelievable! No pain, a little discomfort when first starting therapy but I did everything they asked of me and more. It was amazing how fast I was back to normal.
Before I had the surgery, I was told horror stories about having that type of surgery and how my arm would never be the same. I’m not sure who they had do their rotator cuff but I can honestly tell you my arm is 100% what it was prior to surgery.

After observing many friends and neighbors getting total knee replacements I am always grateful that I chose Dr. Hawthorne to do both of my knees. My recovery has been easy and complete, and I have always felt to be in the best hands. I got lucky when I chose my Smith Nephew Knee and then read in the paper that that is the knee that Dr. Hawthorne uses. Only the best knee for the best doctor! It was also very encouraging when the nurses in the hospital informed me that Dr. Hawthorne is rated one of the top surgeons in the nation!

Dr Hawthorne is a perfectionist and I appreciate perfectionism. He is the most organized doctor that I have seen both as a surgeon and his office staff is efficient and wonderful. My husband had 2 hip replacements by him and recovered quickly. I have had shoulder issues both left and right. He gave me shots in the shoulder joint (best shot giver ever) and sent me to physical therapy and I got my range of motion back within 6 weeks. We have never had to wait to see Dr Hawthorne more than 5 minutes in the waiting room. He gets his patients in and out quickly!

My name is Tami Levine, I have had surgeries before . Dr. Hawthorne is the best my total knee replacement has been very easy. I thought I was going to have multiple issues not one. Now don't think i am conning you into thinking I am nuts but I was driving 7 days later my right knee, physical therapy is the key at first a lot of pain at night but I used Tylenol pm with ice now no more Tylenol I still use Ice because it calms my knee down after using it all day. It has been the best surgery I had done for myself Thank you Thank you Dr. Hawthorne. The staff that works in the Ormond Beach office is the nicest.and the most caring individuals. Came 300 miles plus I worked for UPS. Looking for the best and most knowledgeable and is very honest look no further. Dr. Hawthorne is the doctor you want.

Dr Hawthorne treated me twice. Once for a rotator cuff and once for torn cartilage in my knee. Both operations were successful. While I’m sure many surgeons could have handled it, it’s Dr Hawthorne’s compassion, caring and professional demeanor that mattered.

Dr. Hawthorne is a brilliant surgeon. I just had knee surgery with him at the Florida hospital. I was scared to death. He and his team did such a fabulous job that I was totally walking alone with no aid in 21 days. Remarkable. I am doing so well that I already booked my second knee operation this coming January.
