General Info
Walrap Concrete has been in business for over thirty years base in Utah county:Concrete is our way of life. Believe it or not, we enjoy it. Our priority is to make quality concrete that lasts.Mike Terry, OwnerThis is the original guy. He has been doing concrete on his own since 1971. He has experience in just about every situation involving concrete. His main concern is that your job is completed in a timely manner with quality and durability that you can appreciate for years to come. He also has an architectural eye, so he likes to design.Driveways & Parking LotsGood concrete practices are especially important when considering driveways and parking lots because of the freeze thaw cycle and salt that is brought in from the roads. Six-bag mix concrete is the industry standard, but we use at least seven-bag mix. We have a special paving design for parking lots that uses seven and a half bag mix and fibers.Colored & Stamped ConcreteBy adding a dye to concrete you can make it whatever color you would like. After the concrete is finished, a release agent is spread across it. The concrete is then stamped to give a unique texture. This gives an added color and dimension to finished concrete. Then a gloss or natural sealer is applied so the color doesn't fade.Patios, Steps & WalksWe have many innovative ideas to help your outdoor design look great.Basement WalkoutsOur method for basement walkouts doesn't require an over sized hole. We dig a hole the exact size of the walkout. Then rebar is spaced 18 inches on center each way to form a mat to reinforce the concrete. Next the wall is poured and then the steps are poured with a drain in the bottom. Then the door is placed in the foundation. In the next step, all of the walls are plastered. Lastly, the rail is installed.

Snow Removal
The biggest problem with concrete in Utah County is the freeze-thaw cycle which is greatly exacerbated by the presence of salt brought in from the road. When a vehicle is parked on concrete the salt from the road is deposited in the tracks. If the concrete is not cleaned off, the concentration will increase every time resulting in spalling. The solutions to this problem are: proper drainage, good concrete, frequent snow removal, and concrete sealer.
Retaining Walls
Ryan Job This customer, located in highland, Ut., was concerned about the driveway being all broken up and cracked and the retaining wall on the edge of the driveway that stuck out 18 inches past the edge of the house, making their RV parking 18 inches narrower. We proposed removing and replacing with our special driveway mix 7 1/2 bag with super-plasticizers and micro fibers in the concrete, and pouring a new retaining wall flush with the house. Also we added a gutter-bridge with a 12x3 inch channel iron 3/8 inch thick, also including a rebar mat 12 inches on center each way. Rebar was also drilled into the foundation and existing slabs to control settling. We also added a curb to the top of the retaining wall to prevent driving over. We were pleased with the results and so was the customer. Double-click on the images below to see a larger view.
