Pizza Shoppe is great ""entry-level dine-out"" pizza. It's not as rich as Uno's or Chicago Pizzeria, but I don't think it tries to be. PS is great, simple American pizza pie. The dough is cracker-crisp and about as yeasty as any I can find. I love that. The ingredients are generic, but fresh and as tasty as the crust. PS is extremely affordable - a family of 4 can dine for under $30. That's a veritable bargain these days. This makes the shoppes extremely popular with the birthday and team party set (they have a buffet arrangement that is outrageously well-priced). I eat at PS at least once a month for their lunch special: salad, drink, and small pizza for about $6 - a whale of a deal. At least every couple months family and friends gather at PS after work or after church for some casual dining and conversation. It seems that most of the local franchises are owned by one group or one family - there is a high level of consistency in service from familiar faces. PS doesn't claim to be the ""original"" pizza cafe or even that theirs is the best in town. But I go there more than any other pizza joint and I am more often pleased there than any other place. That makes them very special in my book.
