I bought a 1973 Triumph TR6 from Santiago Sports & Classics in September 2016 for $8250. The advertisement for the car said, "1972 TR6 Roadster. Runs and drives great. Has chrome bumpers. The only thing this car needs is a new interior and new soft top" (I have a copy of the ad). As a cautious buyer I looked for signs of rust on the floor boards and frame, but only found areas of surface rust at the time. When I was talking with the salesman, Ken Orf, I asked him if the car had any rust issues. He replied that there were none. After I told him that I found surface rust on the floor boards he asked if I found any rust holes, of which I hadn't at the time. Due to the surface rust I found, Ken lowered the price from the original $9500 asking price to the agreed upon price of $8250 to cover repair expense of the surface rust. After buying the vehicle and getting it home and stored under cover, I began removing the old interior for replacement. In the process I found half dollar sized rust holes under the seats and behind interior trim panels. These holes were well concealed behind the interior panels and in many cases taped over and painted for further concealment. I then began to look more closely at the frame to find, yet again, rust holes concealed with duct tape and painted to match the frame. I took the car to a body shop in OKC that specializes in classic car work. The owner quoted me $12k-$15k to just repair the frame and inner tub structure. I can't afford that kind of repair expense and the car is not safe to drive due to the rot. The premise upon which the car was sold to me was that the car only needed a top and interior to be a good driveable car. I believe Santiago Sports & Classics to be very deceiving and dishonest in their car sales. I contacted them about the car, but they have yet to respond.
