Get ready for a year-long roll...

Get ready for a year-long roller coaster ride. You will be told that the teeth in your new dentures will be hand set and matched to the teeth that you are fixing to have pulled … what you will get is a standard set of dentures that look just like every other set of dentures.

The price will be for pulling your teeth and for the new dentures - they will tell you that the price includes 2 permanent liners (which will not be put in for at least a year, while your gums settle) PLEASE be sure to get this in writing! I didn’t - I “assumed” it was on the bill and believed their words - which cost me another $345 when they put in the permanent liners 15 months later (I waited an extra 3 months because he said the longer you wait, the better the permanent liners will fit).

Meanwhile, the dentures will become loose every couple of months as your gums begin to shrink - at which time they will give you what they call “temporary liners” this will cost you $140 for each set they put in and if you want to be somewhat comfortable as you wait out the year … you will need these about every 3 months, so be sure to add this cost to your total. I did not (it was not explained that I would need so many of these temporary liners) and I only had enough funds to cover one and 1/2 sets of temporary’s – yes, I had a lot of discomfort during the year!

When they put in my permanent liners, they said I owed them $345, I told them I didn't owe, because they said the permanent set was included in the price. I was so angry, I just told them to send me a bill. They sent me a sheet of paper explaining I would need to pay for the temperary liners and the permanent liners, that was to be signed and returned to them before beginning the proceedure ... naturally, the one they sent me was blank ... because I never received it and never signed anything! They said they give that to every customer (well, they probably do now).

Final result - I ended up with a decent pair of standard dentures and a decent fit once the permanent liners were put in place. Oh, and don’t be deceived by the Christian stuff on the walls – they are in it for the money - just like everyone else! PLEASE get everything they promise in writing!

We regret patient Rogers felt this way. We do understand her being upset believing that we did not explain to her the additional charges involved. When we see a patient for dentures we explain all the details and cost upfront. It has been our policy in our over 25 years of operation to give the patient a letter that explains what to expect and what is and is not included in the cost. We regret that this letter may not have been given to the patient. Both the Doctor and the receptionist explain this information to the patient in addition to the letter. There is a cost for the temporary liners and the patient may need approximately two liners per denture to help make the denture fit better during the shrinking period. One year later a permanent liner is needed to make the denture fit better after all the shrinking has occured and again there is a cost for this. We want our patients to be happy with their experience with us. We are glad to hear that her dentures fit well and look good. But, we feel that the confusion regarding the cost has left Ms. Rogers upset. We are sorry for the misunderstanding.

Happy patient

Dr. Moffatt is a gentle caring doctor who is interested in you as a person. He takes his time and explains to you what needs to be done and why. He has never rushed me into making decisions and listens to my concerns. He has taken care of me and my family for over 20 years and we all highly recommend him. I never have problems getting in for an appointment. His help is very friendly and has always been helpfull when I have any questions about cost and insurance information. One more think I REALLY appreciate is that you usually get seen on time or very close to your appointment time. Just a very friendly office and comfortable atmosphere.
