I went to cookie's on a lark one Wednesday night, and apparently hit the jackpot. It's the only night I guess this bartender worked. Cuz Ive been back since she was so nice and focused and sober, her name was Mel. She really treated me like a person. I wish I could say that about all the bartenders.
I am a bartender at Cookies and I don't believe the things that are being said about this establishment! My name is AJ and people love me there! Of course everyone has their favorite bartender! I don't understand why you would say those things about people who serve you alcoholic beverages. You must have been kicked out for your bad behavior lol... I take really good care of myself and I do not look like I am fifty five! I am sure that it is you that is unfit and has serious issues. Cookies is a place to get away and sing karaoke. You don't always have American Idol singers singing karaoke but is just KARAOKE! It is a way to just let go of your daily stresses! It is your perception that the bartenders drink behind the bar. There is always one person that doesn't like the people that are working in an establishment and that is why it is your choice whether to come to Cookies or choose another establishment. I think we all have people that like us and some that don't that is your American right to make that choice! Get over it and find something else to do! Email me personally if you would like to respond to this review. firstname.lastname@example.org BTW learn how to spell!

I was mocked by this manager type who sat parked in front of the television, he was actually shouting at the television. I was told by the lady sitting next to me that he was the owners son and he does as he pleases. Wierd....I wonder how much business that clown has driven off? Avoid this place.

I typically love hole-in-the wall establishments, but Cookies is by far the worst in all of OKC. The staff is horribly rude and slow. They charge way to much for shots and well drinks. The regulars are very nice, but the co-owner or manager or whatever he is doesn't care about the patrons and would just as soon you leave than remain. Karaoke nights are fun and they have free pool on Sundays. This is not enough to make up for the staff.
Be especially aware of Saturday nights. It is a karaoke night and there is a new server lately. She is the slowest person at any bar I have been to so be prepared to wait. Be prepared to wait a very long time.
You are aware that most all bars are set on "bar time"? This is an accepted practice in the industry and most customers are aware of this policy. Have you not ever noticed that last call is usually between 1:30 a.m. to 1:50 a.m.? This is done in order to get the patrons to finish their drinks, get their tabs settled, and out the door by 2:00 a .m.. By law bars can not have any patrons inside after close. If patrons are caught inside the bar after close the bar and the bartender can heavy fines and could result in the bartender going to jail. Please consider this next time you decide you want another drink at a quarter til close.
Now, I can understand your displeasure with the bartender uttering obscenities and acting in an unprofessional manner. That is never acceptable. However, you have either intentionally or unintentionally ommitted what it was your husband said when he expressed his dissatisfaction. His comments could have incited this behavior.
I have recently discovered this bar (apparently two months after the above incident) and I enjoy it a lot. The crowd is diverse and it is a bar that comes to mind when I think of a neighborhood bar. The prices are reasonable, they have a great turnout for karaoke on the weekends, and I have yet to experience bad service. This has become a bar that I regularly frequent and one in which I would highly recommend. So hcc108 why not give the bar another chance, take the above advice into consideration, and I can assure you that you will have a better experience.

This bar is terrible. I can't believe they are still in business after the service I received. From the phone call, to the visit, the waitstaff was extremely rude and unhelpful. They were obviously not trained on how to be friendly and treat their customers.
We were having a good time singing Kareoke at this place and then realized that the bartender had turned the clock ahead so she could say the place was closing. When we asked for another drink everybody's watches and cell phones said that it was 1:45 am but the clock she had turned said after 2:00. My husband expressed his dissatisfaction and she flicked him off and yelled swear words at him as we left and even went to far as to come out the front door to yell obscenities at him. If I were the owner, she would not have a job there any longer.

Wow! I read the one other review for this bar and wondered if we were writing about the same bar. I used to go to Dooleys which was across the street in the Gold tower office buildings basement. Dooleys closed and I had heard good things about Cookies so I thought a buddy of mine and I would try it. I would not go there on a 1st through 3rd date that's for sure. If you are looking for a truly odd experience in bar hopping I highly recommend Cookies. The night I went was I believe a friday and patrons were few and far between. I'm a smoker and LORD are you ever allowed to smoke there. The second hand smoke is thick which was pretty surprising since I've had more people in a car smoking than I saw in that bar. The karaoke was awfully loud and the folks singing were ""just a tad"" older than the usual fair at a Karaoke bar. The night I was there had a few gentlemen singing Skynyrd tunes back to back with ball caps and beerguts. I discovered on my way out they had a small run down patio area which would have nice to have known about to grab a bit of fresh air. On the plus side I never felt unwelcome or nervous about the place and as I write this I have plans to take another freind there this weekend. I can't see it ever becomming a regular stop for me but I'm not a big weekend drinker anyway. I can't explain what the draw of this place is, maybe it is because they don't try to hard so it feels like a temporary bar a freind might have set up in his garage. You just accept Cookies for what it is and either like it or not. I especially liked the fact that on Karaoke night they just set the gear up on the pool table so NO POOL that night. Give it a try and write your own review...I'd be interested in reading it.

Sort of an affirmation of the ""looks can be deceiving""-morality.
Compared to all the 'snazzy, up-to-date' place, this place (at least on your first visit) seems to be a ""hole in the wall"": not very big, the architecture isn't 'air-tight,' there's no ""employee-uniform,"" ... in short, it isn't ""hip to the Neo-generation.""
Unless you're a grown-up! (a respectable adult) Then, you don't really care how 'up-to-date' the place is past the prices of drinks and the FREE entrance (i.e. no cover-charge).
Outside of that, the staff will keep the riff-raff out; the customers that remain will quickly become good-family to you, the drinks will help you relax, and the occasional events (i.e. Karaoke, billiard-, card- and domino-games, etc.) will help you stay 'living' during the breaks between hard-work and hard-rest in Oklahoma ""Black-Hole of America"" City.
