AAMCO Transmissions & Total Car Care

So far I just got here and my transmission took a hit last night and as soon as I pulled up hey cane ousidr and greeted me asked me the problem and took me through a step by step what they were going to do with my vehicle

They were able to fit me in, looked over my car to see if there were any other issues that needed to be addressed. I don't really trust a lot of mechanics - I feel a lot of them will try to take advantage of me being a woman who doesn't know a whole lot about cars. However, the technicians said my car looked good, and did just the oil change. Much appreciated!

Took my car to this AAMCO based on good reviews online. They were very professional in explaining the process of getting an estimate and each step thereafter. The final bill was about what I had initially feared (needed a rebuild), but there were no surprises and everything was explained and shown to me to my satisfaction.

Good service as usual. Brought my car here for an oil change and I was out within 20 minutes.

Got my brakes done and the process was longer than expected. They did give me rental car that really helped out a lot. The people there are very friendly and I would come back.

Buyer beware! My wife had her SUV serviced here recently. These guys charged $683 for a set of $10 spark plugs (really, I'm not kidding!), $570 for a set of 3 coils that list for $113 each at the dealer, and $120 for a set of plug wires that sell for $60 at Napa auto parts. By the way, they buy all their parts at Napa but charge their customers the supposed "dealer" price for parts - their excuse being that the upcharge is to cover their warranty costs. Bottom line is that they charged my wife ~$560 over the list Napa Auto Parts cost - this is to cover their "warranty"? They must have horrendous warranty costs!. And then on top of that they charged her labor for BOTH the removal and replacement of the plugs and coils - ironically, you have to remove the coils to get to the plugs, so the plug replacement cost should have covered both. My wife had no clue until she got home and I looked at her bill. If you want to pay about 3X for your parts, go ahead, be my guest, but if not, TAKE YOUR CAR SOME PLACE ELSE! Even the dealer's cost would have been less!



UPDATE: Spoke with the owner today regarding the parts pricing and double labor charge and he agreed to make things right by offering a refund for a large portion of the overcharges. My wife and I appreciate this gesture and take it as a sign that the folks at Aamco-Oceanside want to do right by their customers. Despite the issues with the parts pricing, they did diagnose the problem correctly and my wife's car is running very well now.

For myself personally, I've been to a lot of place where I have been taken advantage of and they don't make me feel like a priority. But never here at AAMCO! I feel like they wanted me to understand everything and they're not trying to scam me into things my car didn't need.

I had my car towed here when the transmission went out and they did a great job.It was under warranty and took awhile because of the warranty company. Once things were straightened out, AAMCO fixed my car quickly and works perfectly fine now. Wouldn't take my car anywhere else.

Service was great here. I brought in my car, the diagnosed the problem, and fixed the issue. Can't really ask for more than that. And my car is running much better now.

I liked how honest and friendly the staff is at this place. They didn't hide behind the bush about prices and I paid what they told me I'd pay, no hidden fees. I was having issues with my transmission and they gave me a very honest assessment and did a great job of simply describing the inner workings of the transmission, a car part that I had no knowledge of, and what my options were.

This is a repair shop that you can really appreciate. Simply put, the guys explain what's wrong, what it will take to fix it and when it needs to be fixed. There have been a couple instances where I needed some repairs done but they told me that it could wait a bit which I really appreciated because money was pretty tight. I'd recommend them to anyone.
