University of California Press publishes more than 200 new books and over 50 multi-issue journals annually and provides nearly 2,000 books online. It is a nonprofit publishing unit of the University of California that publishes manuscripts of scholars, writers, artists and public intellectuals. It publishes books and journals in the areas of art, music, cinema and media studies, classics, literature, anthropology, sociology, archaeology, history, religious studies, Asian studies, biological sciences, food studies, natural history and public health. It has journals and digital publishing division that provides traditional and digital publishing services to several scholarly societies and associations. Founded in 1893, University of California Press has a staff of more than 140 people and is located in Berkeley, Calif.
