Brita is the North American sales and distribution division of Brita GmbH in Germany. The company markets a line of proprietary water purifying products originally designed and developed by Heinz Hankammer and named after his daughter, Brita, in 1996. The company s North American products include the Brita Aqualix, Fjord, Chrome, Riviera, Grand, UltraMax, Slim, Classic, Atlantis, Space Saver, Cascade, Deluxe and Brita by Graves line of pitchers. The company also markets the On-Top series of faucet filter systems in various colors and chrome, as well as a line of water coolers and replacement filters. The Brita Products Company has its headquarters in Oakland, Calif.
