I was looking for some gasket material for a Franklin stove to make it more airtight and efficient. I wasted my time by going to Home Depot and Lowe's and of course these big box marts didn't carry that sort of stuff. Then I had the notion to try Downtown Hardware because they have a little of everything. Sure enough they had it. I should have gone there first instead of wasting my time at the big box marts that carry only what they want you to carry. Not only did Downtown Hardware have this material, it came in a kit with the adhesive used to glue it inside the stove. And I would rather pay a few cents more to get the personal service from a family business. I have had my small engines serviced here and they did a good job with them.
I have gone here several times and it seems like there is always smiling faces and someone to welcome you. They have most of the things that other stores don't have and I just enjoy walking around and looking at all the nic-nacs. I must admit that I would rather pay the extra 20 cents for their products to get the great service and advice downtown hardware offers. Since going there I have learned it is still family owned and operated and some of the grandkids work there. It is a great place with great history .... A++++.
