Better Beach Rentals Inc

Rented a house on the waterway called here tis. We were told inadvanc the pool was open and ready and all of their houses/rentals were smoke free! We arrived to a home that the pool looked like a frog pond. You couldn't see 6 inches below the water with dead lizards and frogs in the pool. The house was big but filthy! Smelled horrendous of smoke. The ceilings and walls were yellow in color and the Windows had a smoke film on them. When we called we were argued with that the house was nonsmoking and no one had reported otherwise. When we requested our money back we were placed In a different home with a pool but not on the waterway or beach. Our vacation was planned to be on the waterway so we were very disappointed! Will not deal with again!

Worst beach rental company (8/14/2016 – 8/20/2016):
Better Beach Rentals IS the worst rental agency I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. My relaxing, stress free vacation was ruined by lack of communication and general rudeness. Amenities listed but NOT available: Elevator (removed from listing), Dedicated covered parking, Gazebo, Wireless Internet slow and weak, DVD player, Bicycles, Outdoor grill.
Issues:Awaken by painters at 7am everyday of our stay.
Trash full on arrival
Backdoor broken and would not lock.
Very minimal linens & towels
Flakey 4th floor thermostat
Roaches (I stepped on one in my bare feet)
No mention of the baseball field between the unit and beach with lights on til midnight.
This was not the peaceful, relaxing, safe family vacation anyone would expect for $1,500.
The rental company was unresponsive and rude when they did contact us, which was not very often.
NO one should ever use this company for rental management or renting, ever.

Inadequate air, air filter not changed in 2 months, roach in bedroom, leak in bathroom, no breeze from tree overgrowth, plugs wouldn't hold plug in wall when using hair dryer, no mattress covers. Contacted company and was told they would address issues after our stay.

My family has been coming to Oak Island for generations. We have used several rental companies over the decades. Better Beach Rentals has been my family's favorite choice. They have always bent over backwards to accommodate all of our needs. Everything has not always been perfect, and when things went wrong, Better Beach took care of the issues. We could not ask for a better company to deal with. They have many newer homes on the island to choose from which has made it fun to try newer homes and ones with pools. You can rent with them with confidence. Enjoy Oak Island!!

After 10 years of Rentals this was the WORST! Rental was dirty! Lied to about the pool size. They stated it was big enough for all the condos and nobody uses it because half the people live there and are gone all day. WHAT? It was like sardines in a can! We called about issues in the condo on their emergency number as you are told to and guess what? No return phone calls, know one checked out anything and then they turn it around after all their EXCUSES why they didn't call and blame you for not calling again! WATCH OUT! They are willing to say anything and take your money, but the service, and services you should receive are just talk. NO phone service, cable did not work, bath fan broke, comforters were filthy, floor of showers (we wiped with a tissue) came up disgusting brown filth, microwave still stick all over outside from last guest as well as chocolate milk spilled all over cabinets, and food lining the edges of the kitchen floor. BETTER BEACH RENTALS SHOULD BE BAD BEACH RENTALS! Find another agency to rent from!
