River Oaks West

I would not recommend the River Oaks West Apartments to anyone! I am in my second day of tenancy and already having maintenance problems that should have been identified before the apartment was made available an irresponsible maintenance crew that is more concerned with watching the clock than fixing problems and taking care of the customer, and a front office dictating what comfort should mean to you. I addition, the management is unwilling to speak with their customers which shows not only poor leadership and business acumen, but a complete disregard for the satisfaction of their customers – besides, they already got you a on a lease.



My basic issue is this, the management company needs to do a much better job cleaning and preparing the units for tenants. If a through and professional job is done – which was not done in my case – it would have become clear that the air conditioner did not work. Further, if the unit is passed to a tenant and they find the unit deficient, that all measures will be taken to resolve the problem, regardless of personal inconvenience. I will expect an above-and-beyond commitment to the customers. What you got is less than acceptable by any reasonable standard. I will put it simply; the management group of this complex does not care about you as a tenant. Do yourself a big favor to avoid unnecessary headaches, look and rent somewhere else.

Don't do it! Keep driving, look somewhere else. From start to finish these people will take every penny you have in hidden charges (especially when you are leaving). Firstly the apartments look NOTHING like the ones on the website. The more expensive larger apartments are nice at first glance but on closer inspection they are very cheaply put together. Cheap appliances, cheap paint, cheap wood laminate flooring, cheap carpet .... cheap cheap cheap. The gym is only good thing about this complex, it was well maintained. The guys that do the maintenance will grumpily come into your apartment to fix something, they don't take off their shoes and many times when they came they tracked mud in all over the carpet and left it for me to clean. We had a leak in our shower which took 2 months and many many calls and emails to get fixed properly, it ended up leaking from the shower into our closet - the carpet got smelly and moldy and it even damaged some of the things we had in the closet. At the end of of our 12 months they increased our rent by $200+ so we decided to move. We gave 28 days notice rather than 30 so they charged us a FULL EXTRA months rent at a casual tenants rate (not our normal amount) which was around $400 more then we had been paying. They when they refunded our deposit they deducted $25 for DTE and Consumers energy even though we had switched those services to our new address. The ladies that work in the office are rude (apart from Emily who was very pleasant and helpful) all the others have a really rude manner about them - like you are really inconveniencing them when you come into the office to pay your rent or report a problem. Also they told us that we have our own garage - what they didn't say was you share it with the apartment upstairs. No room to keep anything other than a car - so if you have bikes or anything like that make room in your bedroom for them! I think for the money you will find much better and more reasonably priced accommodation elsewhere. 2 years ago someone in the apartment next to mine was murdered and they didn't bother to clean it properly or advise the new tenant. Her kids playing in the front room kept getting all this black stuff on their feet - turns out they just used there regular cleaners after the guy was murdered not someone who does that type of cleaning professionally so god only knows what was making the girls feet all dirty and sticky. Its not worth the hassle.
