My daughter has attended Northville Christian for 8 years. She has grown in knowledge and in love of the Lord every year she has attended. When she started in first grade, she couldn't read, even though everyone said she had an incredible vocabulary and was very intelligent. Within 2 months, she was reading at a 3rd grade level, thanks to the efforts of her teacher, who is very experienced. She had trouble with spelling and math as she got older, and the resource center worked with her when she was in fourth grade. She is now in honors math, taking Algebra, and getting A's. She is in the National Junior Honor Society, and has a 3.6 average in eighth grade. In fact, there are only 6 students in the 8th grade not in the NJHS, and this is not due to grade inflation. They all take standardized tests every year and are above the national average.
More than that though, I love the culture at the school. Mr Storey, the principal, is a listening leader who teaches the young men to be gentlemen, and teaches the young women to be ladies. The boys admire him and look up to him as a hero. He also coaches the track team. The sports programs are excellent-wrestling, softball, basketball, volleyball, soccer, track-including girls and boys teams, from 5th grade on up. The kids learn Spanish from first grade on, and take computer classes starting in first grade also. They are taught grammar and diagramming sentences in English, and they learn Saxon math, which teaches a form of algebra from 2nd grade on. Our kids at NCS are welcomed at private schools and have no problem with challenging high schools, like Catholic Central and Country Day.
My daughter will be attending a public high school, in the accelerated program.
This is a great place to send your kids. Academically, socially, and morally, they will be taught as you would like them to be taught. It's a great foundation for the rest of their lives.
