What a great company, I have been using Tropical for years. I don't care what anyone else has to say, but when it is vacation time in Miami taxi's are almost impossible to get. Yes I have had to wait longer then I have wanted but at least Tropical shows up. I have called other companies in the past and no one ever came. I find that Tropical does the best they can with the high demand there is for cabs during the busy season, otherwise they are then within 5 mins. If you see a lot of...view more tourists in the area my best advice is to plan ahead and call a Cab earlier. Living here, I know first hand how busy it gets and how backed up traffic can be. Be smart plan ahead!view lessShare Review
i had a situation where the taxi was delayed.. i called tropical and the dispatcher told me the driver would be at my apt in 5 minutes.. he didn't show after i waited 15 minutes.. i called tropical again and the female dispatcher screamed at me for calling..she said.. its holiday season and we're busy.. just wait and stop calling me.. i then asked one of the doormen in my building if he'd drive me to the airport since at this point i was going to miss my flight.. after i left the other...view more doormen said tropical showed up a half hour after i left.. i have posted a flier in my building warning my other neighbors about the inferior service i received from TROPICAL TAXI.. I WILL NEVER USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN.. if they had told me the truth (whatever that was) i could have called another company. there are plenty of taxi services around. in this economy TROPICAL , if it continues to be rude to their clients will be out of business. good service is the key to keeping clients. this company should watch out, there is much competition.
my final word is . STAY AWAY FROM USING TROPICAL TAXI.view less
OK, here's the story. It's a little bit long, but it's interesting insight from someone who rarely writes reviews online. \r
An elderly woman was wandering around my condo lobby area looking lost & saying she was looking for the Avant Garde. She was convinced she could get there by going through the pool area to the other tower, but sadly that's not the case. The Avant Garde is in another town about 10 minutes away. I realized she was probably suffering from alzherimer's so I call...view moreed a cab to take her home. When asked, the elderly lady told me she had no money & didn't want to go with the cabbie because walking there would be faster (again, not the case). I told her I'd pay for the cab. The cab came, she got in, then she got out & was going to continue wandering because she thought the driver didn't know how to get there & thought she was better off walking, but eventually got back in.\r
Here's where it gets interesting. I opened my wallet to give the cabbie $20 but realized I only had $1. So immediately the cabbie called his manager & explained that we had no money & the manager said something to the effect of ""get out of there quickly. Leave the woman."" Now, as a businessman, I can understand not wanting to work for nothing, but I had told the cabbie I'd go to the ATM with them to get money to pay for the ride. The manager didn't seem to pick up on that over the phone & forbade the driver from taking the woman. I think what bothers me most is that one will never know when it will be their relative (or their mother) that is lost & might need a friendly helping hand. To run away from doing a nice thing for someone in need is horrible. \r
So let's not salute Tropical Taxi in Sunny Isles, Florida for the way they treated, not me, but the elderly, alzheimer-suffering woman today wearing a pink outfit who had a key in her pocketbook that said Room #___ (concealed for her privacy) who was lost, probably fearful inside although she didn't know it, & was just trying to get home.view less
We had such a great time with our driver! He was very informative and helpful when we had questions about the sights and attractions that surrounded our hotel. He gave us his card and then arrived promptly when we requested his services once again!
Thank you for being so dependable Mr. Ramos! We will call you back when we return to Miami once again!
