I have seen this restaurant for a while on my drive to work...and thought it was cute how they spelled ""Joynt."" So my boyfriend and I took our friend out to a steak dinner on his birthday tonight....it was below average....the prices were descent, but the food wasnt. I had the 8oz chicken breast and it was breaded and had this weird seasoning in it...the Garlic mashed potatoes were very good..My boyfriend and oure friend both had steaks, and they said they were okay....in my opionion they should have been excellent since the word ""steak"" is in the name of they restaurant ...but what do i know?
The service was bad with only one server working the entire restaurant... the hostess had to take over some tables.

The steak was very good! It was cooked perfectly. This is a great place to go when you want a decent priced high quality steak. HOWEVER - everything else I ordered was disgusting. Even the dipping sauce for the bread was awful. My roommate did liked the garlic mashed potatoes. The service was the worst I've had in Los Angeles. The waitress (an old bleach blonde with a chip on her shoulder) had attitude from ""hello"". She was very inattentive. We had to repeat our order several times, and she still messed it up. She kept telling us what we wanted. The bus-boy was awsome. If he had her job, it would be a nice place to have dinner. If anything I recommend it for take out - steak and potatoes only.

This restaurant has the capabilities of being one of the best in southern California but misses on all counts. Although it shares space with a bar and sports television is blasting at all times the ambience of the partitioned dining area could work. The service is some of the worst I have ever had. The female server spent more time chicing at the bar with the bar patrons than with the dining patrons. The food was not to temp and you had to track her down for things like butter for the bread or sour creme for the baked potato. It is clear that the owner has become board and doesn't see what she is missing in service and food.

The waitress was having a bad night, fighting with the owner, in front of the entire bar area. One of the entrees ordered was a steak ordered ""medium"" it arrived just the other side of raw. I sent it back; they returned it about 10 minutes later charred on the outside and slightly less raw on the inside. Honestly at they point I was grossed out. The owner was called over and upon the request to please just take it back and remove it from the bill she replied ""I won't do that - if it's a problem I can rectify I won't refund money"", I explained that I had already given them one opportunity to fix the problem, but she refused. I was forced to pay for a steak meal that I didn't eat one bite of. How's that for a way to attract new customers?

Steak Joynt is truly a throw-back steak restaurant. For $20 I had a good NY steak, steak fries, cole slaw, and warm bread with toasted sesame seeds and roasted red pepper dipping sauce. It's not fancy, but the food is reasonably priced and good- not great, but good.

This is the best place for steak in the valley. Not only is it delicious, but the atmosphere is tops. Your really feel like your treating yourself well in a place like this. The roquefort salad and rib eye steak are favorites of mine.
