I wouldn't recommend playing at Skinny's to any up and coming rock bands in the LA area. The venue is a dump, meaning this is the worst of the worst dive bars in the area. Sure, the location is ok, but the way the club is run means that you get too-short sets by bands, and promises by promoters to bands that they will receive decent treatment. The old adage is that you get what you pay for, and Skinny's is very, very cheap. However, most of the bands are unprofessional, the staff is rude to them and their patrons/fans, and complaints by everyone abound. There are so many other bands in LA and the surrounding area that there's no point in going here. You'll have a much better time anywhere else. Go ahead and check it out once, but you'll learn that there is no reason to return. I'm surprised this place isn't closed already. It is certainly the worst place I've ever either drank or performed in LA, that's for sure. Playing on the streets of Lankershim is probably more fun than setting up and performing here, or traveling here and drinking. Might as well go to the Whisky. At least the bands are better, and the drinks steeper (in alcoholic content).
