My husband and I had just enrolled our young daughter in to dance class and we were all excited to go pick out her tap and ballet shoes and all the other accesories she would need! After looking around the area, we decided to go to Kinney Dancewear as they seemed to have the lowest prices on the shoes we were looking for. Walking in, the business was very nice and clean. We didn't wait long before the cashier, an older woman, helped us with our fitting. They had the size of shoes we needed, but the older woman helping us was rude and overall unhelpful. The questions I asked her... like will these shoes last (will she grow out of them quickly) and are these tights durable... were answered with short rude responses like... I don't know all kids grow differently, you can't go bigger her heal will slip out the back and well, she will probably go through them at some point, since we will probably get on the floor. Lastly, as I kept feeling how tight the ballet shoes she brought out were, she finally decided to tell me that they would stretch and that they needed to be a little tight. I was very taken back by these responses and her overall demeanor and wondered if as a first time dance parent, I was already supposed to know these things? When my daughter needs shoes again next year, we will be going somewhere else, lowest prices or not.
