Snow Day #5: Marvel Wintry Vistas on a Snow Tram

Squaw Valley USA
Olympic Valley, CA - More Details
Don't just call it a ski lift. Squaw Valley's Cable Car (pictured above) is an attraction all its own, as one of the country's most popular alpine rides. The cable car cabins are the largest of any aerial tram on the continent, which should comfort the squeamish, and floor-to-ceiling windows make it easier for everyone, including children, to take in the wintry panoramas. The eight-minute ascent takes riders up 2,000 feet to Squaw Valley's High Camp (elevation 8,200 feet).

Soar above the frosted pines and canyons of the Land of Enchantment aboard America's longest aerial tram (pictured lower). On the 2.7 mile ride, which whisks you up 4,000 feet to an elevation of 10,328 feet (nearly 2 miles high), you can see sweeping panoramas of the Rio Grande Valley, as well as mountains more than 100 miles in the distance. After the 15-minute ride to the top, you can warm up in the High Finance Restaurant and Tavern.
