Amur Tiger Cubs

Born: June 17 and July 1, 2012
Home: Minnesota Zoo - Saint Paul, MN

All About Baby: Two is company for Amur tiger cubs. Minnesota's youngest Amur baby, born June 17, welcomed a BFF from Saint Louis (born July 1). After their moms had trouble nursing them, the cubs are being hand-raised together so they can learn natural tiger socialization skills from each other.

Note: The cubs are currently not available for viewing. Check back with the zoo to see when they will be ready to greet their public.

Who Knew? Amur/Siberian tigers are the largest cats in the world. Most live in the birch forests of Eastern Russia, with some outposts in China and North Korea. Cubs start hunting at 18 months old, but stay with their mothers for 2-3 years. As adults, these fierce beauties are largely solitary.
