Hank the Sloth Bear Cub

Born: December 19, 2012
Home: Smithsonian National Zoo in Washington, D.C.

All About Baby: It's rare that your birth alone can up the global population of your species by 3%. But that's Hank. As the first sloth bear born at the zoo in seven years (and one of only 18 in the U.S.), Hank and his mother Hana spent the first six months in special den until Hank could grow mature enough to handle the complex climbing structures on the Asia Trail, where Hank can now be seen frolicking daily (8:30am-10:30am), weather permitting.
