I Love You. I Really Love You: Red Roses
Perfect for: Fiancees, spouses, objects of burning desire. Get 12 if you really mean it.
The message: Deep, romantic love
The most famous flower on the planet, the rose is an unmistakable "I love you." The Society of American Florists found that 53 percent of Valentine's Day orders were for roses, and two-thirds of these were for red roses. With more than 100 species of roses out there, which do you choose? "If you do want to go for the traditional 'red' on Valentine's Day, we suggest getting red hearts roses," says Meredith Young, of Au Courant Floral in Jackson, Miss. "They have a ruffled center and are perfect for traditional customers and those that prefer something a little different."
Roses not your thing? Try ivy. In Victorian times ivy symbolized wedded love.
