Joe's Stone Crab - Miami, FL

Fresh off their 100th anniversary celebration, Joe's Stone Crab is heading into its second millennium perhaps a little less crabby than at the beginning. I'll explain. When the restaurant opened 1912, "no one then knew that this local crustacean was even edible." It took founder Joe Weiss throwing one into a vat of boiling water to find out. Now, a century later, people wait two to three hours religiously just to sit down at this legendary South Beach spot.

One Note: Joe's is closed annually from mid-May until mid-October. Joe's will reopen on October 15, 2013.
