Commander's Palace - New Orleans, LA
A long, long time ago in New Orleans (right about the time Mark Twain was inventing sarcasm on those very streets), one restaurant became the next logical step after your riverboat docked. When Emile Commander opened Commander's Palace in 1880, he couldn't have possibly known his little gourmet destination would remain to a go-to destination for great American/Creole cuisine 133 years later. But it is -- just ask those who travel hundreds of miles to slurp down their turtle soup.
