The most amazing yummy food, we love this place! Very friendly and helpful staff without the pretentious feel such gourmet food often calls for!

Trader Joe's

not what you expect

The grocery store that offers more than groceries. It is catering to a health oriented demographic, yet staffed by very rude people (the cashiers). Don't be afraid to bring back an item that is spolied (cucumbers, potatoes purchased here seem to last only one or two days. Be careful to check your frech food items before leaving the store or as soon as you get home!) They are good at letting you bring back any item you are not satisfied with. They are horrible baggers. And very stingy about double bagging. The paper bags rip easily, so we use double bagged plastic. But, more than once, I and my wife were reprimanded about how awful for the enviornment plastic bags are. What? Then why do you offer them? Don't go on a week end. Very crowded and very tight aisles.

Great place to eat AND shop!

This is one of my favorite places to eat. The servers are friendly and generally keep drink orders full. If an order gets messed up, the servers will take care of it. Of all our travels, we have found the Newport News Cracker Barrel to be the best - friendly and helpful servers as well as having good food. The people in the store section are willing to go out of their way to find merchandise. If they see you coming, they will open the doors. They are friendly and knowledgeable about the items the store section sells. Whether eating or shopping, Cracker Barrel is a great place to go.

go shop somewhere else

yes plastic bags are environmentally damaging. we don't experience even a fraction of its damaging effects since we export our trash to 3rd world countries to be recycled in a toxic process. trader joe's operates its business that follows a mission and vision of healthy foods and sustainable lifestyle available at low prices. the small floor space and stingy bagging reduces its costs, and ultimately saves you a few bucks. oh and ripe fresh vegetables do rot quickly. thats why its called fresh produce. go buy raw flavorless GM produce from your traditional supermarket.
