This place is very much affordable but everything is a trade off... the front desk girl is very rude and has been consistently rude since I started taking my dogs there. The wait times are very long and you never get back to see the vet on time. You may pay less, but you will wait and deal with rude people. Also, the vet does not follow through on things she states she will do for your animal. Its worth it to me to pay more and have follow through as well as deal with nice people.
Affordable Veterinary Clinic
I am BEYOND disappointed in this vet clinic. Words cannot even describe what we went through taking our 12 week old puppy there. She had vomiting and diarrhea so we took her there twice for the same incident and as a result, she was misdiagnosed. The vet said it was an intestinal infection. Well she got better after the first time we saw her and then it started up again. The receptionist was rude and had an attitude when I called to make a second appointment. We took her back and were...view more told that she probably swallowed something. At this place we spent more time waiting outside to get called back then the vet did in the room with us. The vet showed us the x-ray and because of the presence of gas in her abdomen, she said it was either surgery or to put our puppy down. She had told us that it would cost us about 3,000 dollars to go to UF and nothing would be guaranteed. She was very matter a fact about our puppy. I am a college student however I felt as if she thought because of my age I didn't prepare or care enough to do whatever I had to for my dog. I cried my eyes out of her telling me that we would probably be best to put her down. She also told me to "take my puppy back to the rescue I got her from." She is a lab golden mix who was a baby of our family dog. I felt that her comment was unprofessional. I was shocked so I got a second opinion from the vet I have previously gone to for most of my animals and it turned out to be a totally different thing. My puppy was misdiagnosed by this vet and was properly taken care of by means of having surgery and medication for less than 1,000 at a different vet. She would have died within a couple days due to this genetic deformity of her intestines coming apart. This was NOT something she swallowed and I was not going to put her down. As a result of this insensitive and callous vet office, I will be taking my puppy elsewhere.view less
I have been a dog owner for over 30 and dealt with many vets over the years but done like Doc Marlene. She is the BEST! She truly cares about the animals and owners. She is not in the business for the money but for the love of animals. God Bless her and her wonderful staff (especially Richard!).
I was freaking out because my dogs needed a vet's attention due to skin issues and I was limited on money. I had to bite the bullet and expect a 400+ bill for 2 dogs. Thanks to this place, the total bill was 98$...for BOTH dogs! That included several medications! NO office fees for first timers. Everyone was so helpful and nice. The building was not the fancy chain vet clinic but thats why you dont pay enormous prices to pay for their fancy buildings or get ripped off with things you d...view moreont need! The staff gave me a quote before they did anything. Highly recommended! What a blessing!view less
My mom has always brought her pets to see Dr. Pinera and she has always been the best veterinarian. You can tell she loves animals and her prices are unbeatable. When I got my puppy I decided to take him to somewhere closer to where I live now. Their prices were double Marlene's and the staff wasn't very friendly. I was more than happy to take the 45 minute drive the next day to take my puppy to see her. Will never see another vet as long as I live in North Florida!
First visit was free!
I'm new to Florida, and actually live in Gainesville, but I'm also a student and on a tight budget. Called so many other vets, asking for examination prices, but was told anywhere from $65 up to $135 (crazy.) I called the humane society who was nice enough to give me the number to this place. Called and the rest is history :D.
Brought my cat-child in because of bloody stool. They set her up with a fecal and, while I was there, only paid $10 for rabies shot ...view moreand $22 for feline leukemia shot. Turned out, after the fecal, my cat had parasites and they prescribed some medicine and also gave her some while I was there. Both active vets took a look at her and answered my many, many, MANY questions. Total bill, after everything, was only $68.
She's having a relapse, though, and I will be taking her back here soon. Supposedly parasites are hard to fight D:.
Basically, if you're on a budget- go here. For me, in Gainesville, it was close to a 30 min drive but I probably saved a huge chunk of money.view less
