Unified Vailsburg Services Organization, also known as UVSO, is a neighborhood-based human services and community development agency founded by local residents in 1972. It is a community of the representatives of various local groups to solve the neighborhood problems of Valisburg in Newark, N.J. The organization serves a daily average of more than 600 Vailsburg residents of all ages through a variety of programs. Its services include meals on wheels, congregate meals, special transportation, health screening and counseling, homemakers and home health aides, crisis intervention and family counseling, and infant, preschool and school-age child care centers. Unified Vailsburg Services Organization also runs a summer day camp and senior citizen center, as well as housing development, community and parent organizing programs.
