As the more complex lenses I need didn't seem covered in the numerous favorable reviews of "88", I feared my experience wouldn't match that of those buying more standard 'grindings'. I needn't have worried. I wanted Photochromatic ["Transition"] lenses that darken in sunlight and I needed Progressive lenses that serve the same function as BiFocals but with a smooth transition rather than the visable line separating the 2 magnifications. 1st off; I knew these couldn't be ready in the amazingly few hours it usually takes these folks to supply most glasses. It used to take my 'standard' Optician at least a week to obtain the lenses I need. '88' promised my new ones in 3 days at the outside and had them ready in 2. As to price, while I'm leery of ordering lenses on the Internet as they need to be centered exactly for each individual face, and so on, '88''s $240 price was within 2% of the best deal I could find anywhere On-Line and that would have been an unknown supplier and without individual fitting [& re-visits later if needed] and advice. '88' was perfectly fine about my bringing in my own special Half-Frames bought on the web, though they were loosing the mark-up. And their advice regarding the several trade-offs & choices I had to make was quite cogent, and more importantly, did not seem shaded by any desire to sell an un-needed feature or up-grade.
I really wish that I could give this place 5 stars because the doctor was great and took her time with my son to make sure that she had an accurate exam. I am very happy with the doctor and with the optical sections young lady who was pleasant. I however the middle age lady that sits at the front desk with long extensions was so extremely rude that she completely ruined the experience that I was initially happy with. I can't understand how she is allowed to continue to work there because I am sure that I am not the only person who was treated so poorly. This was paid for by my private insurance and most paid out of pocket so when I make such an expensive purchase I would at least expect some respect. I am due to go back next Saturday and I dread having to even cross a word with this lady. She needs to be spoken too.
" Looking for a good optometrist can be rough. I never want to settle for less, so I always try to get others' opinions on who is good and professional. I have to ask a lot of people from work because they are the ones who share my health insurance plan. Nobody really had a particularly good optometrist in mind, but someone said they had went to East Side Vision one day and were impressed by how fast everything went. I hate to wait (who doesn’t?) and I like everything fast. I looked up the clinic, which was great that they have a website, called up, and within 5 minutes, I had an appointment with Dr. Natan Dorfman. Exceeded my expectations, everything went fast and easy, and I got my desired results."
