Five Stars With a Bullet! After ten years, it was time to move from our first digs to our new home in another part of the world. We started looking for movers the first Friday of January for a move that was planned for the final week of February. In between seeking quotes and actually moving, our date changed to be two weeks earlier and then back a week later (but still one week before the original moving date) and each time, we reached out to Prisma Cargo Solution and their response? "No problem." When I had narrowed it down to them and one other outfit, they took the time to address my concerns over the phone and answer every question I could think to ask. Further, they were always available via email and prompt in their replies. They were gracious, charming and understanding. No one likes moving and though I was eager to pay someone else to do it for us, I was not excited to pay. They did as much as was possible to allay my concerns. They have their own crews and their own trucks. This is not an outfit that simply handles the scheduling parts of logistics and then moves on, outsourcing the labor and liability to subcontractors. Their guys are GREAT. What's more, they did not just hustle, they had a whistle-why-we-work attitude. Prior to last week, I had never met anyone who greeted moving with anything but disdain. Prisma Cargo were great and showed me I was wrong - there are people who can enjoy the move. They asked our input at every step of the move. They took terrific care of our things. Not a single thing was scratched, miffed, broken, dinged, etc. For anyone still reading this review, I would say that although their prices were a touch higher than some of the other companies we called, the price was all-inclusive. That's ALL we paid. They didn't ding us for tape, mats, crates, carts, fuel surcharge, or anything else. They carefully protected everything else that wasn't boxed or couldn't be boxed and moved it without fuss or delay. When we booked, they were only accepting checks and cash, but by move day, they had started using Square, so paying with plastic was easy too. I cannot recommend Prisma Cargo Solution highly enough. Prisma Cargo is the only outfit I will be recommending. They are just damned good and you will be totally satisfied with their engagement.
Great service with crating of delicate items When a Prisma Cargo Surveyer came over, I specifically asked about the extra service for packing of our TV and glass top tables. I know a professional that does the job perfectly, but figured it would be more efficient to have it done by Prisma professional movers. I wanted to be assured that the movers were qualified. They assured me that they were specialized in crating TVs and glass tops. When the movers arrived, they had their uniform on, which was nice and neat. The head of the movers was the specialized in crating. They made the crate in the warehouse based on the dimension they had taken and carefully packed the TV and Glass top in 2 separate crates. The TV was put into the crate with great attention to scratches and making sure it does not move inside. The components were placed properly, the speakers, the DVD player, the sound system were packed separately. The wires were put in a different box, extremely cautiously and carefully. I received a bill, much less than expected and for a great service. In the past, I used a Van line to move from a 2 bedroom, when I had more stuff and fragile items. In that case, it worked horribly, everything went broken. Now, considering I moved overseas and considering that I received everything in good condition, I am very satisfied I used Prisma Cargo and I will use them again. I did many phone calls and sent massive emails to a lot of companies around 2 states as I was living in NY and needed to move all the way to Africa for a project. When I was finally talking to the movers that I actually chose to be my first option, I received an email from a company located in New York, their name was Prisma Cargo Solutions, after two minutes reading the email that was fresh in my inbox, suddenly I received a call from Prisma asking if I received the email. They were courteous and very professional when taking all my information and giving me quotes. As it was just one bedroom apartment and I did not have too many things the estimate was low and perfect for me, I told them to let me know where to sign. After 24 hours my items were picked up in Bronx, New York and delivered to storage unit, the company granted me that my items will arrive to Ivory Cost in 24 to 26 days from pick up. The Company kept their word, I arrived to my new apartment in Ivory Coast two 2 weeks later and was preparing everything for the arrival of my items, plus customs were already informed by Prisma and also the mover that was going to deliver my goods. After 10 days on the 25th day, I got a phone call from Prisma asking if the mover contacted me already and I told them that I was waiting to hear from them during that day, they told me to call the movers and ask for Kungal, the manager and speak to him. I gladly called the movers and spoke to Kungal, he was very polite and confirmed that my items were just released from customs and that he will be delivering my goods in the next 24 hours. Prisma kept their word, Kungal also did, what else could I say, Just an amazing experience with a reliable mover.

That's because the movers are technically transferring items between state lines, which means they'll be responsible for having the correct licensing and insurance in place.
Long-distance moves are much more complicated to plan, typically requiring you to pay numerous extra expenses for everything from shipping items to renting storage space.

Check with the American Moving and Storage Association
For both local and long-distance moving companies, AMSA is another good place to check out a company's legitimacy. Moving companies aren't required to be an AMSA member, but the ones that are have committed to the association's rules and regulations, which protect both the companies and the consumers hiring them. If a company isn't an AMSA member, that doesn't mean it isn't reputable, but an AMSA membership is a clear indication of legitimacy.

They should also provide furniture blankets, covers and moving pads to keep both your home and your belongings free of scratches or other damage.
Keep the Moving Area Safe
There are some things you can control on moving day and some things you simply can't, such as the weather. If you're moving on a snowy, icy or rainy day, keeping all of your paths, stairways and walkways clear and dry is crucial. The subject of tipping is relatively unclear when it comes to movers. However, there is a general rule of thumb that most people in the industry agree on: Tip your movers if they've done a good job and you think a tip is warranted.
