You have to TRY to have service this poor!

It was like revenge-of-the-bitchy-nerd-on-a power-trip!

I've gone a few times for brunch and the food is tasty but the service is consistently slow and the waitresses all have bad attitudes - which I was able to look past and continue to tip well and bring friends - until this last time.

I went with two other ppl on Saturday and the host said it would be a 10 min. wait. We ordered cocktails at the bar only after 25 minutes did we notice that everyone walking in (from 2-tops to 4-tops) were getting seated right away. Still in good spirits, we asked the host about our wait time and instead of apologizing for forgetting about us, he had major attitude and said that we were a 3-top and he couldn't seat us until our 4th got there. We said there was no 4th person, it was just us, and we're all here and ready. He walked away without a word.

We sat back down at the bar and then it became apparent that he had no intention of seating us at all. Another 10 minutes went by and now there were some empty tables, plus ppl walking in and getting seated, and still nothing. He wouldn't look at us and seemed on a power trip. I have NO CLUE why, we were nothing but polite. We finally left.

There is no reason to ever treat good customers that way!

Worth Your Money

Had lunch delivered to the work place and it was unbelievable. I had the latin burger which was perfect for just under $10 and it came with fries. I really enjoyed it, too bad I didn't get to go to the place in itself. The delivery experience was great they did not take long at all, mind you it was a big order. There is still more to try on the menu, I definitely plan on going there soon.

good food, good atmosphere

Had dinner here with a group this past weekend. Enjoyed it very much. The Yucajito was excellent! Pitcher of sangria was good. They don't fill it up with ice like most other places do. They put ice in your glass not in the pitcher so you get more for your buck on this one. Food was good and place was packed. Definitely plan to come back again. Not on the cheap side but good for the taste buds and the atmosphere.

Decent, but pricey food

I enjoyed my experience at Yuca Bar, but it's definitely not for everyone. This place is LOUD, emphasis on LOUD. You pretty much have to scream at your dinner guests, which is fine I suppose if you're there for drinking and having a few snacks, but less ideal for dinner. During dinner its also very dark, making the menu nearly impossible to read. (This is where a cellphone light comes in handy). The drinks are okay; the signature Yuca Sunrise was met with some confusion/dislike, while I thought my White Grape Martini was a little too strong, but hey, when do you ever get to complain about too much alcohol in a drink? Apps were okay; surprisingly, crowd pleasers like coconut shrimp were so-so while the seafood salad was amazingly fresh, light and luscious. I had the salmon entree, which was kind of boring and not very flavorful. My friend's mahi mahi dish was a little better thanks to a creamy, spicy sauce, and our fellow diners' flank steak and pork shoulder dishes looked appropriately huge, meaty and juicy. None of us could finish our entrees, so while they were getting wrapped up we had some dessert coffees. Mine with liquor 43 was ok, but some of the others, such as one with brandy, was downright undrinkable and had to be sent back. Overall it was an okay meal, not horrible but not particularly memorable either.

Delicious Pan-Latin Fare

I came here once 3 years ago and was impressed. My boyfriend wanted to check this place out so we came back again. My expectations are amazing Pan-Latin grill and delicious tapas. They undoubtedly met mine.

We started with crispy calamari. It came with two dippings, one is red and spicy and the other is greenish mayo. It is truly crispy and the dippings were amazing. We got the Carnitas for two (grilled sausages, chorizo, short beef ribs, skirt steak and chicken). It comes with pickles, bean and rice, and crispy yuca fries. We couldn't even finish half! The short beef ribs was almost falling apart in my mouth and the skirt steak was delicious too.

We had a good time and really enjoy the atmosphere. They also have happy hour from 1 to 8PM on weeknights. Definitely a good spot to sit on mojitos!

TERRIBLE service, mediocre food.

My friend recommended yuca because of their cheap happy hour deals and great tapas. the food was FINE, the waitress didn't come to take our drink order for 20 minutes. Eventually I stood up and asked a bus boy to get her. Happy hour was only for another hour and we wanted to order drinks before they doubled in price.

I ordered a side of sweet plaintains to take home and they were brought to the table after we signed the check. Inadvertently, I stood up and began to walk away from the table, got to the door, realized I left my plantains on the table, turned around and they were gone. When I asked where they went the busboy shuffled through the garbage and offered me my order covered in trash. I turned to the hostess and said, this is sort of f-ed up at which point a manager came out and screamed at me for acting inappropriately and said, ""the hostess offered to replace your order"" i replied....""no she didn't"" and he said, ""oh well, you;re a loser for cursing.""

A. it's the village....who doesn't curse
B. it's a SH-T economy (pardon my french yuca) dont throw your patrons food out and offer them scraps from the trash.

will never return.

Good Happy Hour Prices, Expensive Dinner

I went on a Tuesday night around 7. The place was PACKED. The mojitos (any flavor) were $6. And once we were seated we were still able to get the bar prices. We had to settle at the bar and couldn't transfer our check, which isn't that big of a deal but still a little annoying. We were seated at our table for 15 minutes and the manager asked my friend and I if we wouldn't mind moving to a new table because he needed our table for another party. We moved, no problem. But most of the time when you do that, restaurants will give you a drink on the house or a free desert but they didn't do that. Most of the dinner entrees were $17+. Kind of expensive. And when I saw the amount of food on peoples plates I knew for sure that they weren't getting enough food for the amount they were paying. It's in a good location and the food is good. But there are probably other places that are just as good where you can get more for your buck$. If it would allow me, I would give this place 3.5 stars, not 4.

Rudest bartender in New York

My friend and I went to catch a drink at Yuca Bar on a weeknight this week. According to the official website, the places closes at 1 am everyday. We ordered a drink at 11:30 pm that night, took our drinks from the bar, and sat down to catch up on the nearby stools in the corner. At 12:05 am, the bartender, much to our shock, yells out of nowhere at my friend and I, ""You ladies to have 3 minutes to finish your drink and get out."" His stunned fellow staff started laughing nervously, thinking he was joking, but he only proceeded to get angrier and nastier at us, exclaiming ""I'm trying to get home tonight and I can't wait here another 2 hours for you to finish your drink!"" ""This is New York. You should've realized we were closing down. Don't you see there's no one else in the restaurant?"" etc etc. Our glasses were still almost full. We pointed out the two other patrons still remaining at the back of the restaurant, who hurriedly paid their bill and left. We also pointed out that chugging a tumbler of alcohol was hardly appropriate and that we needed a little more time to finish the drinks -- not two hours, just a few minutes more than three. He responded with a volley of sarcastic comments and more rudeness. We left as soon as we could, still reeling at how, in all these years in New York City, never have we, or anyone we know, encountered a bartender so foul-mouthed as this one. On our way out, we looked for any posted timings, thinking may be we had read the website wrong, but there were none. If the owners are really not interested in running a restaurant professionally, save yourselves some trouble and just say so. There are a thousand places within walking distance that would be glad to have our business, and that still treat people with some respect and dignity.

Great food, fun atmosphere

So tasty!!! The pinchos variados appetizer was get three different kinds of meat, a mini flame to heat them up to your liking, and numerous dipping sauces. The salmon ceviche was delish with just the right amount of lime juice and cilantro. The guac was amazing as well. I'd definitely recommend going with a group and sharing a bunch of tapas rather than ordering an entree.

We went at 9pm on a Friday night (group of 5) and definitely expected to wait. We were told 20 minutes, which ended up being more like an hour, which was annoying. I wasn't totally impressed by my drinks...the Yuca Sunrise (margarita and sangria) was OK. I definitely didn't like my Yuca Kiss. Drink prices are definitely reasonable ($10).
