More Info

The House of Little People is a family owned, multi generation, early childhood learning facility that builds social value in children. We accomplish this by building a bond of trust with your children. Our pioneering personalized approach combining compassion and trust is quite unique and this results in your child’s ability to be well prepared to meet the challenges of kindergarten and beyond. Gross motor and cognitive skills are reinforced and activities adjusted according to a toddler’s needs.

General Info
A key ingredient in our mission and purpose is to assure that we evaluate the important questions. What’s a child’s frustration level?Do they explore and experiment? Are they participating in play, or do they just watch? Are they feeding themselves yet?How do they handle change? These are the benchmarks that THOLP looks for as your child begins to socialize and adapt to this objective world. Assuring your peace of mind and teaming with you as a valuable resource in your child’s development is our primary role.

Our daughter has attended The House Of Little People (HOLP) for the better part of the last five years, having started when she was 4 months old. She will leave shortly to start Kindergarten. We have found it to be a wonderful place where our daughter has flourished in a caring, gentle, fun and friendly but also very stimulating environment. All the teachers, without exception, including Mr. Ray have done a great job of looking after our daughter and treating her and all the friends she has made at the HOLP with genuine affection, personal attention and kindness. She has loved her time at the House of Little People and we have been very happy to know she is in such a caring and nurturing place during the day. We would recommend the school without reservation.

Our family has been involved with the HOLP for about nine years. We always felt very comfortable leaving our son with the wonderful people that work there. They became like family to us and to this day even though he is now in the 3rd grade we stop by once in a while to say Hello. I would absolutely recommend this school to anyone.

I can't begin to express my love for this place! My son just started in the baby room last week & he already LOVES it! He gets serious snuggles, kisses & hugs from the moment he walks in. I head off to work feeling great!! I have never been more comfortable leaving him with anyone before (and this includes with his own grandparents!). I have known all of the teachers, director & owner for years...both of my nephews attend the school & I drop them off every morning. There is an amazing energy the minute you walk through the door. The house of little people exudes a sense of security, warmth, comfort, caring, nurturing, love & family! I can't stress enought my sincere love for the staff & my gratitude for how they treat my son, my nephews & all of the other children! Thank you for making our lives that much better!!

HLP was an extension of our family for 10 years.

I sent my 3 children to HLP and HLP, Too for a total of 10 years. This was an amazing experience for my children and my entire family. As a working parent, it's difficult to leave your children, but I never worried about them at HLP/HLP, Too because my children were happy to go and I knew they were well cared for everyday. They miss Mr. Ray, Ms. Marianne, Ms. Alicia, Ms. Debbie and all of the staff and still go back to visit when we're in the neighborhood. Every one of the HLP/HLP, Too staff are incredibly warm, nurturing, caring, loving individuals. In addition, my children were highly prepared for kindergarten, with top test scores and admittance to G&T programs. I have not met a parent, child or family over the course of the past 10 years who was less than thrilled with the care and education their children received at HLP/HLP, Too. Mrs. Robinson runs professional, high quality child care centers and she and the staff have the care, safety, education and best interest of the children above all else.

HLP/HLP, Too are amazing centers and we were lucky to have had them as part of our family in the early care of our children. I am happy to highly recommend HLP/HLP, Too to any family looking for a nurturing, caring, safe, learning center for their children.

The House of Little People was a second home to both of my children over the course of 7 years. It will ALWAYS hold a special place in our hearts. The teachers are not just teachers, they were our extended family. We have recommended this daycare to numerous people over the years and if we had to do it all again, we would not look anywhere else.

Mr. Ray especially is so special to us. He was my son's favorite teacher and he is really amazing with the children. He also teaches music and my kids to this day, get out their pianos and say it is "Mr. Ray" time. There is not a sweeter, gentler man and teacher. He would do ANYTHING for the kids.

Every stage my children went through, they learned so much and were loved by their teachers. As a parent, I can only speak of my own experience and ours was a positive and amazing one for both of our boys.

We left HOLP when our youngest moved on to a PK program in his brother's school. The goodbye was not a normal goodbye. It included tears, hugs, gift exchange and pictures. I don't know many people who can say that about their daycare. The teacher, directors and staff of HOLP will always be in our hearts (as my youngest would say).

We highly recommend this daycare if you are looking for a nurturing, safe and loving environment for your children.

I can’t say enough great thi...

I can’t say enough great things about The House of Little People! It is an incredible school and we consider each member of its staff to be like family. We currently have two children in HOLP as well as an older daughter who started there as an infant and graduated from HOLP two years ago, so I speak from experience when I say that HOLP is truly a magical place. Every member of the HOLP staff is unbelievably caring and has treated our children like their own from day one. The love that you feel the moment you walk through the door each morning is extraordinary. Our children can’t wait to get to HOLP each morning and literally jump into their teachers’ arms. My older daughter begs to spend time there whenever she has a day off from her own school; she loves this place that much. We have a number of friends with children in other daycare centers/preschools in the city and not one has had a similar experience with their schools. HOLP is a true gem in this city. Our children feel safe, secure and loved beyond words by the HOLP teachers, and the environment in this school is extremely warm, loving and nurturing. We trust them explicitly. The educational experience at this school is likewise unparalleled. The curriculum is superb for a preschool, but what is incredible is to see the enthusiasm to learn that these teachers have managed to instill in our children.

Mr. Ray holds a very special place in our hearts. He is a wonderful teacher and a great role model for our children. Our children burst with excitement at the thought of music with Mr. Ray. His dedication to our children has been shown year after year as he has prepared the HOLP school concerts and graduation ceremonies, and every HOLP parent who has been to one of Mr. Ray’s performances with our children knows was a remarkable teacher he is. Watching our children sing and perform with him are memories that we will never forget. We all absolutely adore Mr. Ray and we can’t wait for our younger children to be in his class.

HOLP is truly an extraordinary school and all the teachers and staff are simply fantastic. We have highly recommended HOLP to numerous people over the years and we will continue to do so enthusiastically!

The HOLP has been home away from home for my 3 boys for 9 years. All of my children started as infants and my youngest currently attends the HOLP. From the day I left my oldest son in the hands of the staff at HOLP I never turned back. They were cared for in a loving, safe and caring way that is hard to find, especially in this big city.

Their development over the years was incredible to watch. I do not think I could have done as good a job had I stayed home with them. My two oldest children are now attending a top notch UES Catholic School. They could not have been more prepared for entering Kindergarten without the HOLP. They love to pick up their brother after school and visit with the teachers and staff who were a huge part of their earliest years.

30 years of experience in caring for infants, toddlers and pre-K children is a very long time. Their is no doubt HOLP is still around because they are the best!! Had they not been they would no longer be in business. Mr. Ray has also been around for many years for very good reason. He is a wonderful man who the children respect and adore. There is no doubt in my mind that he respects and adores these children as well. He is a fabulous musician too. My oldest son found a love for music by experiencing it regularly at HOLP.

The love, warmth, compassion and excellent learning experiences at the HOLP are so amazing and the children are the same. They learn from these positive experiences and will build on these early years throughout their lives. I have recommended HOLP to many families over the years and would do so over and over again.

Mrs. Robinson, Miss. Marianne, Miss. Alicia, Miss. Maria, Mr. Ray, Miss. Jasmine, Miss. Nancy, Miss. Sheila, Miss. Bobby and Miss. Carmen are the best. I thank them daily for all the love and learning they have provided for our family over the years and continue to do.

I would recommend the HOLP to any family looking for a top notch childcare center, you can't beat this UES charm!!

The House of Little People is a wonderful school. Our daughter has been there since she was 12 weeks old and we have never been unhappy with that decision. As she reaches her fifth birthday this summer, my only regret is that she cannot stay there any longer. All of the people who work there are incredibly patient and loving, but Mr. Ray in particular is loved by all of the kids at the school. In addition to being a warm and welcoming environment, the Director works diligently to plan out complete lesson plans to educate the kids in a fun and engaging format, even as young as the toddler room. My daughter looks forward to going to school every day and, as a working parent, that is the best thing you can wish for. I would highly recommend the House of Little People to anyone looking for a quality daycare and excellent pre-school.

The House of Little People is ...

The House of Little People is an INCREDIBLE home away from home.

For anyone reading the 5/17/11 review from UESMom, let me give some background....

Mr. Ray has worked there for 30 years, and this is the first allegation ever made towards him. He has personally made a huge, positive impact in the lives of my children. CPS was called based on these claims, and the results came back last week as unfounded. There was also no police involvement in the case. Interestingly enough, UESMom sent her son back to school for several days after calling CPS and after the "incident" took place.

I have two children as well as a nephew there, and have been a part of the House of Little People family for over 3 years now. It is the best decision my husband and I have made as parents, and my children are probably safer there than they are in their own home. The owner, director, staff and facility are all top notch.

It's sad that other families try to sabotage a business's livelihood as well as many families based on inaccurate claims. This school has been around for well over 30 years - and for good reason.

PARENTS BEWARE!!!! Do not send your child to this place. My son was slapped and abused by the preschool 'teacher' Ray and I had scramble to put him in another preschool. I had to get Childrens Services and the police involved. The owner refused to do anything to this person and my family had to suffer. Only the director has teaching credentials and there are hardly any resources (updated toys, writing utensils, old facilities, etx) for the $1750 a month!!! Don't waste your money or punish your kid at this place.
