They changed my appointment without telling me. I booked a massage a month in advance for May 11. I get an email confirmation, but, because I double-check everything, I call on Friday, May 10 to confirm. They tell me I've been rescheduled to June 22!
First they insisted that I must have requested the switch because they'd never have done it without talking to me. I had to deny making the change several times, going so far as to explain that I was traveling on June 22 and would never have rebooked for that date. Then they finally admitted someone there had messed up. The manager, Steve, promised to try to find me a Saturday opening, since my original one had been given to someone else. That was around 3:30 pm Friday. He said he'd call me back in a 1/2 hour. No call. I call back at 6pm, over 2 hours later, and he says he's still working on it and promised to call me before he left that day. Did he call me? Nope.
On Saturday, someone (not Steve) calls and offers me a Sunday slot (after I'd already told Steve I couldn't do Sunday), and then said Steve would call me on Monday to offer me a new booking. It is now Tuesday. Nobody has called me.
Conclusion: don't trust their bookings or their promises.

The spa looks nice and clean, the laser technicians were friendly enough. But I would never return here because I thought the receptionists working here were exceptionally snobby and I don't care for that kind of attitude. The receptionist even demanded I tip before I leave the establishment, and when I did, he made it seem like I was being cheap. I would never return here.

I bought a package directly from SkinSpa for massages and after almost 4 months have yet to be able to actually get a massage. It has taken me months to find appointments and I finally booked two massages and THEY CANCELLED ON ME DAY OF APPOINTMENT!! The first one-I got a call in the AM cancelling an afternoon appointment saying the masseuse was ill. I was somewhat understanding and said ok. The second one they literally called me 5 MINUTES before my appointment as I was pulling their door open. They cancelled on me again without explanation and very little in the way of an apology! A massage should be relaxing & so far SkinSpa massage service has been nothing of the sort. I regret ever buying this package from them. In the spirit of full disclosure, last year I bought a laser package that went fine and actually think Greta there is awesome! But that was last year. Now I think they sell packages through Groupon, Lifebooker, and their site and simply can't keep up with the demand they have created.

I purchased a Groupon for 6 laser hair removal treatments, which I used for 1/2 leg. I had previously had laser hair removal for brazilian bikini and underarm at other places, with fabulous results. The results from Skin Spa were horrible, and I agree with other reviewers - they turn down the laser so that you dont get the proper results and therefore need more treatments. I didn't even bother wasting my time in returning for the last two sessions, and gave the receptionist a piece of my mind on the way out for having the gall to demand a tip for such mediocre service. I find management's practice of having the receptionists essentially confront customers on how much they are tipping or whether they tip at all is completely tacky. I have no problem tipping when the service meets my expectation, which is what a tip is supposed to be for! My best friend had also purchased a Groupon for 6 sessions, 3 for underarm and 3 for bikini - and had the same awful results. This place is a joke.

First of all the laser hair removal machine they use is ancient. It barely works. I feel like I keep going and see hardly any change. Secondly the receptionists are nasty. All of them. These people beg for tips. I always tip anyway but if you ask me it makes me not want to. That is very rude. A tip is not a requirement but is based on service. I bought a groupon that had 3 treatments for $99. They told me that I would have to tip a percentage of the retail price. They should feel ashamed of themselves to conduct themselves that way. I definitely think there are better choices out there.

I went to the Skin Spa for two laser hair removal packages which I purchased from LifeBooker. Brandi treated me. THE LASER HAIR REMOVAL TREATMENTS WERE ABSOLUTELY USELESS. I have had good results on these areas in the past, but I had moved away and discontinued the treatments. With the Skin Spa, only 20% of my hair was treated. All hair is supposed to fall out within 3 weeks. Brandi either managed to miss my entire left arm or did not know which settings to use to effectively kill the hair follicle. Giving people a ten minute lesson on how to use the machine does not make you a qualified laser center.

I have received laser hair removal treatments in the past and have had great results. The deal at Skin Spa with Lifebooker loot made the laser treatments there a deal not to pass up. How wrong I was! I had Jen for my first treatment (underarm and Brazilian) and my results were terrible. Not one hair on my underarms ever fell out, and the only hair that was removed from my entire bikini area was a few stripes just on the front (nothing underneath at all). I actually had about 6 vertical stripes of hair on the front, which my husband couldn't stop laughing at. I asked for someone else for my second appointment, which ended up being Brandy. She turned the levels up and all the places she hit with the laser lost the hair - unfortunately she missed one strip on my bikini, and didn't put the laser on the insides of my labia (only the outside got zapped). I went in for my final appointment (only underarms since I only had two Brazilians in my Loot package), and I requested Brandy again so she could touch up the areas she missed. She was adamant that it wasn't her fault and that I just didn't know how the laser worked (I had amazing results when I did laser previously, with all the hair falling out every time). The guy at the front desk told me I could schedule a ""touch-up"" appointment for $10 a minute, to which I replied, I'm not paying to have someone fix what wasn't done correctly the first time. After telling my entire story, I somehow convinced the manager to have someone touch me up for free later in the day. Some people on here mentioned the tipping. I was surprised I even had to tip (there was no tipping in Beverly Hills when I had my treatments there). I was paying $50 for the Brazilian and $33 for the underarms, and they told me that I should tip $50. The first and second time I tipped $20, which was more than a dollar a minute of the girl's time, and the third time I was so annoyed at the situation that I didn't tip at all. Sorry, but the laser treatments at this place are a joke. They have no idea what they're doing, and if you're considering hair removal, find a place that actually has real nurses who have been trained in this stuff, not some 20-something who got a 10 minute lesson.

I'm dumbfounded by the good reviews of the midtown Skin Spa. They are nice enough and the atmosphere is fine - but I received two services there, and both were sub par. The first was a microdermabrasion. I have been to about 10 different places in NYC for microdermabrasions, and this one was by far the worst. -First off, if you're interested in microdermabrasions, find a place (and there are many of them) that has DIAMOND microdermabrasions. This place uses crystals - which is known to be a worse treatment. I knew that going into the treatment and took my chances because of the price, so this is not the reason for the bad score. -The microdermabrasion was bad because the aesthetician left an obscene amount of crystals on my face! I told her I was going back to work, and I found myself peeling crustiness off of my jawline and hairline for hours. I even found a big chunk of crystal exfoliator on my nose after she left the room. That's inexcusable, her half-ass job of washing my face post-treatment made me cancel my next appointment. The second service I received was a few months later - I got a brazilian wax. I've had about 40+ waxes (i know, I know, i gotta get laser one of these days!) - and i have NEVER had bits of wax left ALL OVER. In the front, the back, down my thigh, she left about half-dime sized pieces of wax. Peeling them off myself was excruciating and annoying. Never mind how I felt when I peeled off my tights later in the day realizing I had missed a few pieces of wax. And to top it off, my ""strip"" strayed way to the left. Their Groupons/lifebooker/etc deals may be cheap, but you can get just as cheap elsewhere for a great service. I will not be back.

If you are looking for a quick & dirty, no frills, no pampering, this is the place. I am satisfied with my treatments (laser hair removal in 2 different areas). The receptionists were not so pleasant, but worth dealing with to get to the treatments provided.

WOW. What can I say? Rachel is amazing and I love love the laser genesis and facials she gives. This place is a seriously hidden gem and the deals are amazing. I just cannot say enough great things about it!

I really enjoyed my microderm that I had at The Skin Spa. I got a Living Social deal for NYC that allowed me to get it for $35. My skin is glowing and fully cleansed. I believe the pricing is very fair at this spa and would tell my friends about it!

I went to the spa after a recommendation from the concierge at my hotel. Honestly I was skeptical if it would be any good because the price seemed a little too good to be true-- I have NEVER found a place in California that offered anything less than $100. Luckily, after calling the spa with a few questions I decided to give it a try and was pleasantly surprised. The spa was very clean and had retro-styled light fixtures. My technician was so helpful and told me how I could control my ""irritated travel-skin"" .. I left feeling refreshed and my skin looked a million times better. I'll definitely come back on my next visit and will recommend the same to my friends.

I went to the Skin Spa to use the coupons they give you when you sign up. I had a brazilian and half leg. The girl who performed the services was awesome (Jenn). The price for both after the coupon? $41. SO GREAT!! They give everyone 3 coupons when you register for the daily emails. The deals in the emails are amazing and I'm really happy I listened to my friend who referred me there. The prices are fantastic! I'll be a regular from now on.

I booked a titan treatment for face and neck. When I arrived the very nice aesthetician asked what my concerns were. I said my sagging jaw, chin, and neck. So She went ahead and did the treatment only on those areas. On my face she did my nasal folds, but not cheeks, forehead, eyes. When she said that the treatment was over I asked why she did not do a full half of my face. She replied that they only have a certain amount of pulses per treatment, and that she had used them up on the areas of concern. I have had Titan before at another, more expensive, place and they CONCENTRATED on the areas I mentioned but DID the whole area I purchased. I left feeling really ripped off. If was cheap if it was face and neck, but not cheap for half-face and neck! Be really careful and know what you are getting! Unfortunately I booked a package of three and this was my first treatment! What a rip off!

LOVED it. I am so happy to know about The Skin Spa! I went in to get a microdermabrasion and a facial to get my face clean for my upcoming wedding. My esthetician customized the experience for me and gave me recommendations about caring for my skin in the future. she did a fantastic job. great pricing too (only $60 for a facial!). i picked up the menu of services and am excited to go back.

I am a light-skinned black women who had a professional peel 3 weeks ago and my skin not only has failed to look nice, it looks MUCH worse. The days immediately following the peel I literally looked like a burn victim. I sucked it up, assuming that once it peeled it would be ok. Unfortunately I was wrong. Now exactly three weeks after the peel, I have discoloration on my forehead, cheeks, and especially around my mouth--around the lips, on the chin and along the laugh lines, which makes them appear to be deep wrinkles (I'm 25 years-old and wrinkle-free). I told the staff member that was working on my face during the procedure that it was burning the area around my mouth and she said that was normal... When I called to express my concern about the results 2 weeks later, I was again told that it was normal. No, ""Come in and we'll take a look,"" no ""sorry, give us a chance to correct the damage."" And it's actually NOT normal to pay for a service to improve the appearance of your skin and for it to get worse...or damaged long term as I fear. Skin Spa's website says that they select a peel for each customer individually --skin with melanin is prone to pigmentation issues if esthetician's aren't careful so this claim is in large part what encouraged me to try this place out -- but this is clearly NOT true. This was hands down the WORST results I've ever had from any facial procedure and unfortunately it seems that I'll be dealing with the results for some time. DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE OF GOING TO THE SKIN SPA.

I've recently visited the skin spa for a treatment. I have to say that my esthetician was gorgeous and I fell in love with her. If I wasn't married with two kids I would probably want to marry her. (TMI I know) The treatment was amazing!!!!. I've been to other spa's but the skin spa is in a totally different league. The prices are very affordable, yet the quality of the treatments is superb. My esthetician was very knowledgeable in skincare and of the treatment. I highly recommend the skin spa to anyone looking to find quality skincare at a very affordable price.

The staff is friendly and the place is clean, but that's where it stops. I went in for the special microdermabrasion and facial special. The microdermabrasion is very quick and OK. I've had better. Also, my sinuses felt gritty from the microderm dust. The worst is the facial. The extraction left me with three scabs on my face. I have sensitive skin and have had other facials, but never had scabs on my face. I'm so embarrassed. I'm never going back.

I used to love Skin Spa, but it seems they have grown faster than they can handle. They offer deals on Groupon, Living Social and through their own site now and unfortunately, their quality has dramatically decreased. I can no longer get appointments with the person I want, even if I call a month in advance. And the last time I went, they changed the waxer on my without calling to tell me. She was terrible, didn't ask how much I wanted off, took way more off (and at an insane, uneven angle) than I wanted and I was digging bits out of wax from my nether region for days. The red headed receptionist is the king of rude. So sad, but am really going to have to stop going here.

I found this spa on Lifebooker where they were offering 50% off on all of their services. I got a bikini wax and it was wonderful! The waxer was skilled, quick, and the procedure was painless. There were no stray hairs and I felt very comfortable. Plus with the Lifebooker discount it was truly an amazing deal. I will definitely be returning!
