The San Carlos is a great location to both Times square and Fifth avenue shopping. Close to a subway line and Grand Central station. The staff friendly and helpful. The one problem was the continental breakfast. On our first morning there they had bagels, toast, yogurt and pastries as well as juice and coffee/tea.
