A Delightful Find!

I've gotten japanese straightening done 3 times before and was looking for a new place in the city about a month ago. I went and met with 3-4 technicians at different salons and finally decided to go ahead with Tim at Roy Michaals Salon. I was very happy and satisfied with the results. This was the best one of the 4 times I've gotten this process done. I am extremely picky and particular about what I want and Tim was not only knowledgeable and careful, but also made sure he gave me exactly what I wanted.

Dawn is a terrific colorist who has always done the best job on my hair. This is the friendlest salon in town, and the clientele is understandably very loyal. There is no ""attitude"" and everyone's hair looks great. Fair prices, too.

Everytime I walk in, I feel like Iam back with friends. I've come to expect that I will look years youngeer when I leave, but I always marvel at how valued I feel by coming in; the specail home-made treats; and the lovely garden is a wonderful place to sit back and enjoy. Roy and Bill have created a wonderful 'family' atmosphere in the heart of the City .

This is a great salon and I have been following Roy and Dawn as they moved from other locations (two others actually) to the current location. I always feel as though they strive to make my hair look its best . . the staff is wonderful and professional. On the day of my son's bar mitzvah, they were able to accomodate not only me for a pre-service blow out but also to take of my two young daughters. We all looked great. Oh, with regard to the creepy elevator ...they also help me with that and let me go up the back stairs! Since they are only on the second floor, it is no big deal and they don't make me feel crazy about it! A great salon!

I recently went too roy michaels salon with over processed blonde hair and i was looking for a more natural look. A colorist named Maria greeted me with such comfort that i felt like i knew her for years. I heard from a friend that Maria had a great technique of high and low lighting. So as soon as i sat in the chair i knew that it was going too come out amazing... When it was all done the only thing that i could say was WOW! Maria's technique made my hair look so much healthier and look so natural. The best part of it, is when I came home too my husband he even seen the difference! Thank you so much, Great JOB!!!!!!

I had a great experience at the Roy Michaels Salon! Loved the people as well as the inviting environment and outdoor patio!\r Derek did my color...what a FABULOUS job! I left the salon loving my hair and never had so many compliments!\r Kazu cut my hair and again I loved it! I usually am not so happy after a haircut and need about a good month for me to get used to it but not with this cut! He styled it beautifully and the cut lasted for quite some time as any good cut should!\r I would definitely recommend this salon for the friendly staff, service and most importantly satisfaction!

I have been going to Roy Michaels salon for about 2 years now. I've been to soooo many salons in Manhattan and Queens after my regular guy left my Astoria salon. I've had my hair fried, ruined and overpaid for mediocre highlights elsewhere (once $580 without tip!) until I came to Roy Michaels. Dawn does my amazing highlights and keeps me looking like a natural blonde and Kazu gives me such magnificent cuts I can go without using a blowdrier. All this and they are no where near as expensive as other places I've been. I will continue to be a loyal customer :)

Kazu is to date the only person I go back to time and time again for haircutting and styling, he is fabulous, each time. The rest of the staff is friendly, unpretentious, and professional. Nice people.

I was so fortunate to find such an amazing salon a few blocks away from my office. I always look forward to my haircuts with Roy and I have been faithfully going to him for almost 5 years now. I don't think I could ever go anywhere else. Bill is always so accommodating to get me in for an early morning appointment. The entire staff goes out of their way to make you feel comfortable and make you look wonderful. Just as I have been faithful to this salon, it seems that the staff are equally faithful to Roy; time after time I see the same stylists, colorists ... even the sweet women who wash my hair... there appears to be very little turn over and that speaks volumes to me. Roy Michaels Salon is an absolute gem.

I once heard that you shouldn't buy shoes or have your hair cut more than a mile from 57th Street and Madison. This is the kind of salon that made the area famous, without any of the attitude that can drive you away. Every single staffmember, from the lady who takes your coat to the owner, is not just an expert but a very nice person. It's such an unpretentious, comfortable place that you feel very much at home. Coffee cake on the terrace and rotating art work are nice touches, but the reason people come back is that THEY NEVER MESS YOU UP. They genuinely want you to look good, whether it is a simple haircut and blowdry or fixing some other salon's really bad bleach job. Time and again I hear people say they fly in from another state because Elsa is a color genius and Nana always remembers which side you like your part on. If I ever move, I will fly back, too.

Great Hair Cut For Men!

I've been to a couple of the stylists at Roy Michael's and I have to give credit where credit is due. Kazu gave me a great haircut the first time and my most recent experience was with Tim who did an outstanding job! My hair is very flat but Tim cut in such a way that it grows back with style. He used probably 6 different types of scissors, all serving a different purpose. I will have to go back.

Extremely happy with my visit! The staff is friendly, kind, and it is an all around great atmosphere. I was able to sit outside on the terrce and read while waiting for my hightlights to finish. I am very happy with the results. Dawn does a fantastic job with the color, and Roy is amazing with the style and cut. I had the opportunity to get my hair cut at Roy Michaels and I was very impressed! Roy Michaels is a very classy place. I was recommended to have Kazu cut my hair and he did a great job! I have a few oddities with the way my hair grows and most stylists just give me the run of the mill cut and then my hair looks bad for a couple of weeks. Kazu was great in that he really HOW to cut my hair. Plus he really took his time. I got comments for a couple of days what a great hair cut I got. I would highly recommend him!

I use Derek for my highlights and Kazu for my hair cuts and they are both fantastic. In fact, I would use any professional there, I just happen to have had those persons work on me when I first went to the salon. Derek is absolutely phenominal when it comes to judging the type of highlights you need and how much. Kazu has great judgment in determining what type of haircut best suits your face. It really is a remarkable salon. Not to mention the fact that everyone is so friendly whenever you call or go in.

This place was sent to me from HEAVEN! These people are wonderful and magical. If it weren't for them I don't know what I would do! Derek colors my hair as if I were a movie star and he puts up with me and makes me feel so comfortable! Now if they could only do something with the rest of me. Kazu cuts my hair as if he were getting me ready for the red carpet and he has so much patience. They all put so much into there work and make you feel very special. And the ladies that wash my hair are amazing! Roy Michaels and Bill I have fallen in love with (don't be scared) you guys are GOD'S to me. I want to thank everybody there so very much for being so WONDERFUL!!!!! I have never looked so forward to getting my hair done!

I have been getting my hair highlited for just about 20 years with the same colorist - She has kept a history on me throughout that time - when I get there she knows what to do and there is not waiting - The staff is more then accomodating - they think of every last detail from the fresh flowers around the salon to the patio deck outside where you can pour yourself a cup of coffee and have a piece of cake and just relax - it is a slice of heaven in a big city

You guys did a great job on my hair. This is the best haircut I have had in 3 years. I'm new to the city and have been looking for a great stylist and finally I have found him Kazu thank you thank you. It's amazing how much confidence a good cut and wash will give you. I feel like a million bucks and it didnt take forever. My appointment started on time and my stylist was great. I'm already booking my appointments for the rest of the month. Tell Kazu you want the star treatment.
