a great club...if you're looking for a 1980s coke den
i went to rebel this saturday night for a friend's birthday. we were on a guestlist that was supposed to get us in free until 1am, and we got there a little after 11pm.
i do want to say that the guys at the door were very, very nice. they joked around with us on the way in and didn't hassle us at all.
however, when we got upstairs, it was a completely different story. first they frisked us (and everybody else, of course) in a much more thorough manner than i, as a frequent clubgoer, am used to.
we finally make it past the frisking and the woman who's supposed to collect the tickets they give you downstairs says that the girls can go in free but the guys have to pay. there were 11 of us, 4 guys, so you know we're going to spend money. why the hassle after the guy downstairs assured us we were all free? so we try to explain it to this chick but she's not going for it. she says the guys have to pay $20 each (and this is NOT a club that is worth $20).
so we go to leave, but fortunately the guy downstairs was cool and walked us right back upstairs and told the girl that we were all free. thanks, guy downstairs! i wish i caught his name.
but then, after we finally get through all this hassle, we get inside...and there's like no one there. except, of course, for some coked-out 45-year-old blondes in fur coats and their various male counterparts.
and they don't take credit cards? or at least that's what the bartender told my friend. and if they're going to try to charge $20 cover, you'd think they'd at least not serve the shots in little plastic dentist office cups.
the place filled up a little more as the night went on, but it remained pretty crappy, although i did enjoy the music. the cage-dancing thing is not for me, but, if you're into that, they've got it here.
overall, it was a pretty crappy club. it's definitely not worth the hassle they seem determined to put you through.
