Bring back the buffet!

Went there for brunch hoping to find the pre reconstruction abundance, fun and a gorgeous spread inside the room in the back of the Restaraunt as well as stunning people watching\r \r Instead we got:\r 1. regular food off the menu\r 2. high chairs that give you privacy but make it impossible to people watch\r \r Please, please bring back the wonderful buffet!\r \r

NY Diner

My husband and I had a good recommendation for high tea at the Plaza. I was disappointed with the service and food. First of all, there was only one hostess to sit you while the line wrapped around the restaurant. When we were finally sited, we had the Plaza high tea. Caviar was served plain on a doughy pita, proscuitto sandwich was very chewy, pastries were good but skimpy, and we havent seen our server until our ch... view more

Being Courted

Are you in the mood to be transported? Courted, by a bygone era, wafted aloft by the spirits of true ladies and gentlemen? Was that Joan Fontaine I saw in the spring of 1990, sitting just four tables over? Did Raymond Burr just sit down, with Barbara Hale? And what year was that? The atmosphere can tingle when you least expect it, while you are being lulled with a suculant crab salad, and the lightest of white wines ... view more

Sunday brunch is awesome

I totally pig out when I go to the brunch here. Not because I'm one of those All-You-Can-Eat types, but because there is just so much beautiful food! From their italian cold cuts, variety of olives, sauteed/grilled veggies such as leeks, whole garlic, asparagus, to their smoked fishes, made-to-order eggs, fresh pastry, excellent cheeses, various meat casseroles, stewed fruits such as figs, peaches, etc. to their de... view more

2nd Visit was a Big Disappointment

I wasn't impressed the second time around. There's no reservations for less than 8 ppl, so we 6 stood on line for over an hour. Foodwise: Sandwiches - ok. The scones - very good, although it shrunk in size from the last time I was here. Dessert was definitely skimpy this time. There was only one tiny dessert per person. To pay $29 for afternoon tea for that little amount of food is definitely not worth it. Her... view more

High Tea is an experience

Knowing they don't take high tea reservations, we were concerned about getting seated on this Friday afternoon, but we showed up af 4pm and were surprised to be seated right away (even wearing jeans!). Our first brush with service was far from right away, though, so be prepared to wait several minutes (10+) for your waiter to show up; once he did, however, service was great. We ordered the deluxe high tea for 2 - m... view more

Brunch in Excess

The Sunday brunch is a gourmand food fest. It excells in variety and quantity, but is not top-notch.
